I am appalled.

I was informed by the Director of KeepandBearArms.com via a web post that during the Arizona "Freedom in the 21st Century" conference that there was a flyer being handed out. http://www.keepandbeararms.com/newsarchives/XcNewsPlus.asp?cmd=view&articleid=2126

Could someone please explain to me why "Defenders of the Constitution against federal government and the UN" is lumped into the same group as Nazis, KKK and other supremacist groups? Since when is defending the Constitution a terrorist act? Does anyone in the FBI know WHY the Constitution was created? From what I gather, it was so there was no specific government with control over the people. In fact, it was to limit government as much as possible by placing a large number of checks and balances in place so the people would never be misrepresented.

So, what this pamphlet is saying, had Patrick Henry and Thomas Jefferson been alive today, they would be under surveillance as possible terrorists?

"What country can preserve its liberties if its rulers are not warned from time to time that the people preserve the spirit of resistance?" - Thomas Jefferson, 1787

"The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government." - Thomas Jefferson

"Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are ruined." - Patrick Henry

Terry Chapman of the Maricopa Sheriff's Office at least said it was worded in a very poor way and thought the pamphlet would never see the light of day. So what happened? How did it get out? WHY did it get created in the first place?

From the flyer:

-Lone Individuals - Um, so if I happen to be having lunch by myself I'm a suspect?

-Attempt to "Police the Police" - So wondering why a perp is being beaten by police (a'la Rodney King) I'm a suspect?

-Claim driving is a right not a privilege - So my Constitutional right to travel is to be limited?

-Making numerous references to the U.S. Constitution - So lawyers, judges, etc are suspects? I thought the Constitution was the base law of our country?

- Groups of individuals engaged in para-military training - So the Boy Scouts, local ROTC, historical reenactment groups... all suspects?

-Skinheads, Nazis, Neo-Nazis (usually recognized by tattoos) - Huh? Over a dozen of people I know have tattoos. You're telling me they're potential suspects?

This is all scary as Hell to me. With the issue of the 'Military Court' order by President Bush as well as the relaxation of wire tapping and other means of surveillance, this country is headed directly towards a Police State. This is the EXACT thing our Founding Fathers were looking to prevent with the creation of the Constitution.... a government that controls the people. What ever happened to "A government for the people, by the people?"

"This country has changed since Sept. 11th..." Yes, yes it has. And I don't like it one bit. Look at what you people are doing and ask yourself why ARE we doing it this way? What is the ultimate goal here? From where I stand, it's to put every American in their place and lock the screws down on us in order to create a 'safer' nation. The slaughter line at a cattle ranch comes to mind......

Oh, and I guess this e-mail means I'm a suspect now. Please, any pictures you take, get my good side, ok?
