Mr. President,

After reading the text of your speech (http://www.whitehouse.gov/news/releases/2001/11/20011129-12.html) I must say I am concerned.

Now that the 'Patriot Act' is being used against common lawful American citizens, what will this project bring lawful firearms owners? In a country where we are all innocent until proven guilty, you have now made every firearms owner with an undeniable right to self-defense someone that is now guilty until proven innocent.

With all of the people on the lookout for someone with a gun, how many peaceable citizens are going to be harassed "in the name of the children?"

This is just disgusting. Now for every innocent person that makes a mistake, they are going to be portrayed as an evil, malicious child killer with a gun. Example? Driving to a local gun club and passing within 1000 feet of a school zone. That's a felony offense now. Does this person go to jail for the maximum sentence? Where do you draw the line? It's meaningless, feel-good tripe such as this that gets innocent people in trouble.

Please consider the choices you are making. "War time" is an excuse, not a reason. When you and Congress stop using the Constitution (specifically the Bill of Rights) as a hand towel, then those of us who believe in Liberty, will consider your reappointment.

Regards,

Ken Ross
