Woman fatally shoots intruder

TACOMA, WASHINGTON -- Tacoma police are
investigating a shooting Thursday evening in which a woman fatally shot a man
who broke into her home.
The woman knew the man, who was a former
friend, Tacoma police said.
The woman, in her late 40s, shot the man with a
handgun after he broke into her home in the 7000 block of Portland Avenue East
and began assaulting her, police said. He was taken to St. Joseph Medical Center
where he died about 11:40 p.m.
The Pierce County Medical Examiner's Office has
not released the intruder's name.
