Man shot after
robbery

Police say that a man was trying to commit an
armed robbery before he was shot in the back by another man Oct. 23.
Antonio Williams, 20, who lives on East 24th
Street, was shot in the back near the corner of East 14th Street and Ivy Avenue
after an encounter with two men. Williams was hospitalized at Baptist Hospital
and later released.
Williams was charged Thursday with attempted
robbery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a firearm by a convicted
felon. He was being held in the Forsyth County Jail with bond set at $100,000.
Authorities said one of the intended robbery
victims pulled a gun and shot Williams.
Shortly after the shooting, Daniel Darnell
Davis, of Thurmond Street was charged with assault with a deadly weapon with
intent to kill inflicting serious injury. Last night, an additional charge of
possession of a firearm by a felon was filed against Davis. Davis was being held
in the jail with bond set at $25,000.
