HUNTERSVILLE, NORTH CAROLINA -- A man in Huntersville fought back after another man attacked him at gunpoint.

John Nolan and his four-year-old daughter were leaving his office when a man confronted them around 10 p.m. Tuesday.

The man held a gun and a stick and told Nolan to go back in the building. Nolan thought going back in the building would be a mistake. "I said to him look I've got a lot of money in my wallet -- it's in my briefcase. Do you want it?" Nolan said.

Instead of reaching for his wallet Nolan, reached for his gun and fired at the man. The man fired back and ran, but Nolan fired three more times and then, with his daughter still in the car, chased the man around the building and pinned the man against the wall until police arrived.

The suspect is Charles Tate. Tate faces several charges. He is recovering in the hospital.
