A Facebook friend just posted a picture of these shorts, and I thought they were a joke. But. Theyre not.
These shorts, sold by a company called Armed in Heels, are called UnderTech Undercover Womens Ultimate Compression Shorts, and theyre currently on sale for $50. The company is a federally licensed firearms dealer out of Gilbert, AZ and claims to have the largest selection of self-defense products for women.
Ed.: I love all these new products geared towards female gun-owners; it bodes well for the RKBA. |

The Second Amendment Foundation and Association of New Jersey Rifle & Pistol Clubs today asked the U.S. Supreme Court to hear the appeal in the challenge to New Jerseys unconstitutional carry laws. The case is Drake v. Jerejian.
Prepared by attorneys Alan Gura (who won Second Amendment victories in the groundbreaking Heller and McDonald cases) and David Jensen, todays petition is the latest effort to bring a right-to-carry case before the high court and is the next step in the process of resolving the differing opinions of lower courts on the right to bear arms for personal protection outside the home.

On Dec. 20, a small group of coalition members, including Greenwich resident Sue McCalley, who is a member of the board of Connecticut Against Gun Violence, gave personal thank-you cards to U.S. Rep. Jim Himes (D-4th) and state Rep. Fred Camillo (R-151st) for their work in pursuing gun law reform, including calling for universal background checks that would close loopholes existing for Internet, person-to-person and gun show sales. Both men came by to receive the oversized cards and were thanked by coalition members. |

The Sundowner Gun Range and owner Kendall Richards have filed a civil action in U.S. District Court alleging the range and its owner have been damaged by complaints from neighbors and suffered economic loss after a cease-and-desist order issued by the Wood County Commission shut down the range.
The civil action also claims the owner's Second Amendment rights to bear arms and First Amendment rights of free speech were also violated by the commissioners. |

Residents of a town in western Mexico set fire to at least three trailer trucks Thursday to protest the arrival of more than 100 vigilantes to their community.
The burning trucks blocked roads leading into Paracuaro in Michoacan state before federal police and soldiers removed them.
The "self-defense" group arrived Saturday in pickup trucks and SUVs and set up a checkpoint at the entrance to Paracuaro, a town of artisans and lime farmers. They disarmed some police officers on suspicion they were working with drug traffickers. An unidentified man was killed in a gunbattle after the vigilantes seized the town. |

Florida legislators are pushing ahead with a bill designed to make it clear people can show a gun, or even fire a warning shot, without drawing a lengthy prison sentence.
The legislation was partially inspired by the case of Marissa Alexander, a Jacksonville woman who was given a 20-year prison sentence after firing a gun near her estranged husband during an argument. Alexander's conviction was thrown out by an appeals court and she is scheduled to have a new trial this year. |

Travis County Commissioners Court did not renew its contract with Saxet Gun Shows during its Jan. 7 meeting.
Saxet has requested leasing the Travis County Exposition Center for gun shows in 2014 and 2015 using the same terms as in previous years, Judge Samuel Biscoe said.
He added that residents voiced concerns that because not all gun sales at gun shows require background checks, leasing space to gun shows was an inappropriate use of county facilities and a potential public safety risk. |

Last month, that led Crosswhite to found 2amendment.org, 2AO for short, a website that helps businesses (and individuals) show their support for Second Amendment rights.
Upon registering with the site, a 2AO decal is issued. The idea is that businesses can put it up in their windows, similar to the way they would display a Zagat sticker. Crosswhite is also working on a smartphone app that would allow users to find pro-Second Amendment businesses in their area.
2AO launched at the end of December. Since then, Crosswhite says hundreds of people from all over the country have registered, despite him originally thinking it would be a initiative specific to the northern Virginia area. |

The Times article featuring Elzie Pipkins, a 63-year-old grandmother who defended her Shreveport home against a shotgun-wielding robber, is garnering nationwide attention on social media, pulling in nearly 175,000 views since its publication Tuesday.
Pipkins was forced at gunpoint into the back of her house in the 3000 block of Morningside Drive by Devon Antonio Young, a teen who demanded that she open her safe. Pipkins kept a small amount of change and a firearm in the safe and used the weapon against the 16-year-old, ultimately taking his life. |

U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny of Buffalo has issued what looks like a sensible and well-reasoned decision upholding key parts of New Yorks SAFE Act, while dismissing others. It would count as a victory for public safety and common sense if the ruling were to stand, but both sides seem likely to appeal.
In a case watched around the country, Skretny ruled late last month that the 2012 gun control act largely withstands constitutional scrutiny. While finding that so-called assault weapons and large-capacity magazines may be in common use a legal benchmark for constitutionality the states regulation of those weapons is related to the important governmental interest of public safety. |

The group Citizens For A Safe Ashland is circulating the online gun safety petition on change.org. So far they have about 150 signatures.
Its caught the attention of City Councilwoman Carol Voisin who said, A lot of things can happen around firearms, and I think the more we can do to protect our children the better off we are going to be. To me thats why its important. Its about the children, and its about public safety.
The group is proposing two city ordinances. One would make it illegal to carry a loaded firearm in public spaces. It would also make it illegal for anyone carrying a weapon, clip or magazine to refuse a Peace Officers request to inspect the items. |

At the stroke of noon on Saturday, Jan. 11, opponents of the New York Secure Ammunition and Firearms Enforcement (SAFE) Act of 2013 will pick up their shotguns and gather at the top of South Hill in Middlesex, and at multiple locations throughout the state. Together theyll fire a unison shot in protest of the one-year anniversary of the legislation they believe is a violation of their Second Amendment rights.
Yates County Shooters Committee on Political Education (SCOPE) will host two such events Saturday called Shot Heard Around New York State in their county. One will take place at the Middlesex Conservation Club, 6087 South Hill Road in Middlesex; and the other at the Izaak Walton League, 2407 Guyanoga Road in Penn Yan. |

Anti-gun billionaire Michael Bloombergs Mayors Against Illegal Guns contributed $30,000 last month to Initiative 594, the 17-page gun control measure that today is being touted by the Daily Olympian in an editorial that criticizes competing Initiative 591 for its potential to become a highly charged emotional campaign funded by the NRA and other outside interests
Examiner learned of the MAIG contribution yesterday with the latest update on I-594 contributions from the Public Disclosure Commission (PDC). Bloombergs group, based in New York, falls under the definition of outside interests. |

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel may be dismayed at yesterdays report by the Associated Press that more than 2,500 concealed carry permit applications have been filed just in Cook County since the application period opened in Illinois a few weeks ago, thanks to a Second Amendment Foundation court victory that forced lawmakers to pass a law last year.
As of yesterday, the Associated Press added, more than 11,000 applications including about 4,500 filed on Sunday when the states on-line application system opened have been filed. Timing will be good for this year's Gun Rights Policy Conference, sponsored by SAF and the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms, as the event returns to Chicago in late September. |

A local challenge to New York's Safe Act will likely be delayed. The push back is a direct result of a recent federal court ruling in response to a separate challenge to the law.
Now, a trial in state Supreme Court in Erie County scheduled for Jan. 16 probably will not take place.
Last week, a federal judge ruled that the vast majority of the controversial law, including a ban on assault weapons, is constitutional. The one exception is that the state cannot limit a magazine to seven bullets, the judge ruled. |

The governing body of Pennsylvania's 14 state universities has delayed consideration of a policy that would allow guns on open areas of campus, such as sidewalks and parking lots, the system's chancellor said Thursday.
...
The proposal was put forth by a task force of board members, university presidents, students, faculty and law enforcement, but the driving force for making the change came from the system's lawyers, who feared that current bans could not survive constitutional challenges. Current practice is to allow each school to dictate whether firearms or weapons would be allowed on its campus. |

Anti-gun New York Congresswoman Carolyn McCarthy announced today that she will not seek re-election in the fall, just days after the Washington Times and other outlets reported record background checks in 2013 that signal a continued uptick in gun sales in response to attempts by the Obama administration and Congressional anti-gunners to push for tougher gun restrictions.
She famously admitted during one interview on MSNBC a few years ago that she did not know what a barrel shroud is, even though she was pushing legislation that banned guns with that specific feature. This came after she had repeatedly tried to deflect the question and focus on other issues. She thought it was that "shoulder thing that goes up." |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
We'll take one step at a time, and the first is necessarily - given the political realities - very modest. We'll have to start working again to strengthen the law, and then again to strengthen the next law and again and again. Our ultimate goal, total control of handguns, is going to take time. The first problem is to slow down production and sales. Next is to get registration. The final problem is to make possession of all handguns and ammunition (with a few exceptions) totally illegal. Pete Shields, founder of Handgun Control, Inc., New Yorker Magazine, June 26, 1976, pg. 53 |
