Lots of us own guns. We also carry those guns legally in public. That is critically important because gun owners save a lot of lives. You knew most of that already, but there are a few things we keep hidden from you. Every day there are over 17 million of us legally carrying concealed in public. That happens seven days a week, with no days off.
We save thousands of lives a day. |

John Lloyd had just dropped his mother off at work on a night in December 2020 when he noticed the flashing lights behind him.
Traveling through Detroits New Center on West Grand Boulevard, he was pulled over by police for a traffic infraction.
I let them know that I was armed, Lloyd said, who at the time was working as an armed security guard. They checked out the information and told me my (concealed pistol license) was expired.
Lloyd had moved back to Michigan from Georgia and his concealed pistol license, or CPL, had expired three months earlier. Like many, he said trying to renew his CPL through the Wayne County Clerk wasnt easy after the pandemic shut the office down.

A new battle over guns and crime is brewing in the Missouri General Assembly. A local state senator is proposing a change to Missouri's open carry law that was enacted in 2017. Now, police in our area and across the state say the law is making it hard to fight crime, families of gun violence want to see the law change, while gun lobbyists don't want to weaken gun laws for those who abide by them. |

Subcompact pistols are whats hot. Those are the guns consumers are asking for, and theyre the guns manufacturers are building. The reason should be obvious: the smaller a pistol is, the easier it is to conceal. (The smaller a pistol is, the harder it is to shoot, but that seems to be of little concern to most people these days.) |

South Carolina-based American Tactical Inc. has been making the Galeo for a couple of years and we have been taking one for a spin. Based on the legendary old IWI Galil AR/ARM-- and including most of the surplus parts of one-- the ATI Galeo uses that rifle's reliable long-stroke gas piston system. Looking and feeling very AK, the gun looks and feels like a Kalashnikov but is a bit heavier, with a milled 4140 CDA steel receiver and stamped steel top cover.

Savage Arms added two new rifles to its lineup in 2022, both in the company's semi-automatic A series and both guns chambered in .17 Winchester Super Magnum (WSM), a new cartridge offering from Savage. Savage has seen outstanding performance from the 17 WSM cartridge and felt it could be optimized in new platforms, said Jessica Treglia, Sr. Brand Manager at Savage Arms. The A Series rifles have a delayed blowback design that accommodates this caliber with limited modifications, making it an ideal action for the WSM cartridge." |

Along about 1950, Colt debuted the first American-made pistol in 9mm Luger. The U.S. military was thinking about retiring the venerable .45 of 1911 in favor of a 9mm for compatibility with their Allies in case of another land war in Europe. Colt figured the 1911 could be so chambered and lightened to boot. The result was the Commander, with a 4.25″ instead of a 5″ barrel, and another first: a lightweight aluminum frame. |

In 1891, Mauser Hunting Rifles developed the 6.5x55mm Swedish Mauser cartridge for testing and evaluation by the nations of Sweden and Norway. These two neighboring countries, then known as the United Kingdoms of Sweden and Norway, historically agreed on an ammunition caliber and then purchased firearms of their own choosing. This allowed for a level of logistical flexibility and interchangeability, as both countries together provided for their common defense. |

The Benelli ETHOS Cordoba BE.S.T. was designed for hunters that are hard on shotguns and like to shoot a lot. Benelli built the Cordobanamed after the region of Argentina known for its high-volume dove shootingto accommodate hunters who enjoy clay-shooting disciplines and aspire to hunt birds abroad one day. To do that, Benelli was very detail-oriented in the construction of this gun, which was previously known simply as the Cordoba before the Italians discontinued it for a short time and brought it back in the current ETHOS model. |
