"So what is the native born American to do? He sees himself more and more being victimized by a federal government that doesn't listen to him and a Supreme Court that decides he's got to subsidize all of the government's cockamamie schemes that are sucking him dry. Just about every major population center in the United States has at least one municipality that is on the verge of financial collapse." |

" 'I dont know anybody at the Justice Department who wants to see the Constitution ... denigrated,' [Michael Chertoff, second in charge of the criminal division of the U.S. Justice Department] said, saying the governments perceived aggressive behavior stems from a desire to prevent future terrorist attacks."
------- Compare his statement with this excerpt from a memo written to certain senators by Assistant Attorney General Daniel J. Bryant expressing his goals for the "Patriot" Act:
"The courts have observed that even the use of deadly force is reasonable under the Fourth Amendment if used in self-defense or to protect others... Here, for Fourth Amendment purposes, the right to self-defense is not that of an individual, but that of the nation and its citizens... If the government's heightened interest in self-defense justifies the use of deadly force, then it certainly would also justify warrantless searches.
