Brockway Township Supervisor Bill McMurtrie said he was watching TV a few weeks ago when a humongous boom rattled his windows and sent the family cat running.
Soon, he got a few calls from neighbors and other township residents about the noise that reportedly came from someone target-shooting with Tannerite nearby.
Theyve been no major issues from what he called exploders within the last couple of weeks, but McMurtrie said that does not mean its over with.
Now, the supervisor said the township will host a meeting Tuesday night to get some answers on the rules about materials like Tannerite, a brand of binary exploding rifle targets, as well as assuage the concerns of residents.

Michigan would lift its ban on stun guns under legislation advanced by lawmakers on Tuesday.
The bill would allow the sale, possession and reasonable use of a stun device by those 18 and older. Michigan currently allows law enforcement and people with a concealed pistol license those who are at least 21 to use a Taser, which is a different type of self-defense device than a stun gun.
A Taser can be used from distance, while a stun gun requires direct contact with an attacker. |

Lion Blyden, a contributor to the Challenger Community News and president of the Buffalo division of the Universal Negro Improvement Association & African Communities League, also will discuss how the work of the National Rifle Association affects blacks. The UNIA is the organization founded by Marcus Garvey in 1914 and UNIA&AAC members are Garveyites.
The free forum is sponsored by the Dorie Miller Rifle and Pistol Club, named for the black Navy messman turned hero who manned an anti-aircraft gun when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor in World War II. Miller earned the Navy Cross despite the fact that segregation had barred him from combat roles. |

Larimer County Sheriff Justin Smith says the request by Holmes is a fraud and a classic example of how the controversial new law can be abused. A petition can only be filed by a law enforcement officer or family member, under the red flag law. Holmes is claiming she shares ties to a child with Cpl. Morris in the petition.
The Colorado State University Police Department sent the following statement to 11 News on Cpl. Morris: "Colorado State University Police Department Cpl. Morris is not on leave and continues to serve in his capacity as a peace officer at CSU, and continues to lawfully carry his weapons. He does not share a child with Susan Holmes. |

The Senate Judiciary Committee has released its latest version of legislation to render your self-defense firearms worthless.
Tomorrow at 2PM they will have an informational hearing to discuss Legislative Concept 38. It is a mash-up of several previous attempts and appears to include the worst provisions of all of them.
This is the latest effort to require you to lock up your firearms and only transfer them with locks engaged. You will be liable, for two years, for anything that happens with a firearm that wasnt locked. The assumption of course, being, that if you sell, give away, or trade a firearm the recipient wont be able to remove the lock for two years. |

After nearly six hours of public comment, Lynchburg City Council voted not to become a Second Amendment Sanctuary on Tuesday night.
At the start of the meeting, hundreds were packed inside E.C. Glass High School's auditorium. Over 100 people signed up to speak, both for and against the proposed resolution.
Many of those in favor wore "Gun Save Lives" stickers as they spoke.
"I urge you to stand up for our rights."
"As an older brother and son who takes care of his parents, how are they to defend themselves when I'm not around?"
"When local political leaders allow state political leaders to criminalize local constituents, they surrender the moral authority to lead." |

Macomb County could become one of the first five counties in Michigan and the first in the tri-county area to become a so-called Second Amendment sanctuary county, if the board of commissioners approves a proposal at a future meeting.
But the proposal is drawing mixed responses from residents, with some ready to pull the trigger and others a bit more tepid to the idea, worried that the plan and its proponents may be only half-cocked though even some of those folks still thought the issue was worth discussing. |
