"Bihar's traders will take to arms to defend themselves against criminals as the government had failed to protect them, a traders' organisation said Thursday."
"Traders have been target of criminals but the state government has failed to protect their lives and business, said the traders' organisation."
"Traders are regularly abducted for extortion and killed if they refused to pay, said [organization] president Tekriwal."
"Five traders were killed in the past fortnight alone, he claimed. 'Hardly a day passes without reports of crimes against traders,' he added." ...

"The Edmonton Institution was an 'armed camp' over-run by violent gangs when Jason Kerr fatally stabbed a fellow prisoner in self defence, says evidence being weighed by Canada's top court."
"The Supreme Court of Canada reserved judgment Friday on whether Kerr should be convicted of carrying a weapon 'for a purpose dangerous to the public peace.' "
"Seven high court judges heard from lawyers for Kerr and the Crown for two hours. They won't likely release a judgment for several weeks in a case that some fear could escalate what has been called a prison 'arms race.' "

"Writing a book, such as, 'Restoring the Constitution, 1787-1987: Essays in Celebration of the Bicentennial' will not solve the problem either, for that book has been on the shelves for 17 years and the federal courts have grown increasingly unconstitutional."
"Article 3, Section 1, and Section 2, Clause 2, along with the impeachment clauses are the viable solutions. In the 107th Congress Congress used the authority of Article III, Section 2, clause 2 on 12 occasions to limit the jurisdiction of the federal courts. As you can see, jurisdiction stripping is far more common and easier to accomplish than amendment or impeachment; and far more effective than hoping for a favorable decree." . . . |

"You wake with a start, not immediately sure why." ...
"Is someone inside? And if they are what, dear God, should we do?"
"First of all, if possible, call the police immediately. But in rural Finger Lakes areas, help can take a few minutes potentially life-altering minutes to arrive."
"That leaves residents wondering: What am I allowed to do to protect myself?"
"The answer is spelled out in Article 35 of the state Penal Code, 'Defense of Justification.' " ...
..."You can legally use deadly physical force in your home when you reasonably believe it is necessary to prevent or stop a burglary, arson or other violent crime."
"After the fact, law enforcement officials may be the ones to rule whether a belief was reasonable, but when a stranger is entering a home, or already inside, the law gives that resident the benefit of the doubt." ...
"Also, in New York state, only those who have applied for and received a handgun license are allowed to own or possess handguns."
------- This means that you can only defend yourself after you have jumped through a myriad of bureaucratic hoops, paid extortion money to the government for the "privilege" of owning a tool of self defense, passed a background check and waited months for permission. "Capt. Charmaine McGuffey and Lt. Earl Price of the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office typically teach the two-hour classes twice a year at the downtown YWCA, 898 Walnut St., in the spring and the fall. An extra class was added last week to meet demand, McGuffey said. The next workshop is scheduled in April."

"They savagely dragged me like an animal, like a piece of furniture, and took me to a secluded area of the park, a hut, a foul place that smelled so bad that not even animals should be made to be there, where I was brutally and repeatedly raped by five or more men." ...
"All of the attackers, except Carmona, were in the United States illegally." ...
"The woman was sexually tortured for three hours before cops rescued her. The men were arrested and gave confessions."
------- So while New York is busy prosecuting fathers, bodega owners and senior citizens for daring to defend themselves with a non-nanny-state-approved weapon, President Bush is busy giving amnesty to illegal aliens, Immigration is busy being incompetent, and mayor Bloomberg is busy confirming his hatred for guns and freedom by joining with other socialist hellholes to prevent the "Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act" from being enacted. |

A teenage girl was shot in her home after a gun accidentally went off in the apartment below.
Few details are available, but WLWT Eyewitness News 5 reported that the shooting happened at 1654 Gellenbac Road in West Price Hill.
According to police, a man in a second-floor apartment was cleaning a gun when it discharged. The bullet went through the ceiling and hit the 13-year-old girl in her shoulder, WLWT reported.
Investigators said the man went upstairs to check on the girl, then fled the scene. The victim was taken to Children's Hospital with an injury that reportedly is not life-threatening.
No other information is available.
------- Notice not once does this story mention that the reason the weapon fired was because this irresponsible moron was cleaning it with a round still chambered, or that his finger happened to pull the trigger and made the gun go, "BOOM!"
No, the gun "went off" apparently all by itself.
If someone pulled the trigger, the agenda would be compromised. |

There is a huge rock near a gravel pit on Hwy. 25 in rural Iowa. For generations, kids have painted slogans, names, and obscenities on this rock, changing its character many times.
A few months back, the rock received its latest paint job, and since then it has been left completely undisturbed. It's quite an impressive sight.

"What do the drug war, Child Protective Service, Gun Control and Anti-smoking laws have in common? EVERYTHING. Each are examples of well intentioned policies that either dont work or wont work in the long run. Each is based on political reaction instead of reasonable action. Each violates basic constitutional rights and all are based on the politics of personal preference instead of logic and reason. Moreover, each has created huge bureaucracies that are now self feeding monsters." |

"As many as 200 tables of guns, knives, antiques and collectibles will be on display and up for sale at the show. Even after 28 years, Pokorny has a single purpose in mind for the show."
" 'Gun shows have been controversial nationwide because theres not necessarily any background checks or waiting period,' said Odessa Chief of Police Chris Pipes. 'Then there are those who feel that if two individuals want to trade guns, then they should be able to do so without government interference.' By law, individuals are allowed to trade or sell guns to each other freely without filing paperwork or performing background checks. Federally licensed vendors, however, must perform background checks." |

The retrial of four Miami police officers accused of beating a suspect during a 1997 arrest is scheduled to begin today.
In the original trial last year. 11 officers were tried. Four were convicted of planting guns at questionable police shootings in the 1990s; three officers were acquitted; and the jury couldn't agree on the other four, forcing a retrial.
Singer Gloria Estefan was called as a potential juror for the trial, but she left the federal courthouse Thursday evening after being excused from jury duty.
During the questioning, Estefan said she thought her celebrity status might influence other jurors.
She also wrote on her questionnaire that she was recruited by the CIA during her college years. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
We'll take one step at a time, and the first is necessarily - given the political realities - very modest. We'll have to start working again to strengthen the law, and then again to strengthen the next law and again and again. Our ultimate goal, total control of handguns, is going to take time. The first problem is to slow down production and sales. Next is to get registration. The final problem is to make possession of all handguns and ammunition (with a few exceptions) totally illegal. Pete Shields, founder of Handgun Control, Inc., New Yorker Magazine, June 26, 1976, pg. 53 |
