This week, Assembly Bill 503 failed to pass out of the Assembly Public Safety Committee on a party line vote. AB 503, sponsored by Assembly Member Heath Flora (R-12) would have allowed an individual with a valid concealed carry weapons license to carry to, from, or in a church, synagogue, or other place of worship on the grounds of a public or private K-12 school when the individual has the written permission of the school authority.

With the rising number of shootings in Philadelphia and the nation, a new organization has quietly established itself in Philadelphia with the goal of educating marginalized communities on gun ownership.

You've heard of the National Rifle Association (NRA). Now, there's the Socialist Rifle Association (SRA), with a Philadelphia chapter.

The local chapter was founded about 18 months ago and has approximately 80 members. The organizers interviewed preferred to use only first names.

State Senator Donzella James, D-South Fulton, says she believes in the right to bear arms, but not automatic guns

"I am only talking about those weapons that shoot multiple rounds. I�m not taking anyone�s second amendment rights, in fact, I�m a gun carrier myself," explained James.

She has filed a bill (SB281) to make it illegal to possess or sell working automatic weapons.

Ed.: Not machine guns. The bills bans semi-auto firearms.

Oregon�s gun owners will face penalties for not securing their firearms when not in use under a proposal that�s likely be introduced in the upcoming legislative session.

State Reps. Rachel Prusak, D-West Linn, and Janeen Sollman, D-Hillsboro, shared at a legislative hearing Jan. 15, their proposal that they said would prevent gun deaths and keep firearms out of the hands of children and teens.

A New York man has been acquitted of all charges in relation to the 2013 fatal shooting of another man who was wanted wanted on rape charges.

David Carlson faced charges of manslaughter and negligent homicide in a bench trial for the death of Norris Acosta-Sanchez.

Carlson was accused of firing his shotgun twice at Acosta-Sanchez as the pair walked along the road where Carlson lives. Carlson claimed he was escorting Acosta-Sanchez at gunpoint, so a neighbor could call police and that the fugitive lunged at him before the shooting.

An attempted home invasion ended with the death of the armed suspect Thursday evening, police say.

The incident happened just before 10 p.m. on the 6000 block of Tulip Street in Wissinoming.

Police say an armed robber attempted to burglarize a home when the homeowner fought back.

The homeowner, a 27-year-old woman, was shot in the arm by the suspect and she stabbed him in self defense, according to police.

Richmond, Virginia, has long been central to historic American struggles. On Monday it may be the center of another bitter U.S. dispute, this time over Second Amendment gun rights.

Pro-gun groups plan a big rally at the state capitol, with upwards of 20,000 people, in opposition to a package of gun control bills now speeding through the Virginia legislature. Worried that extremist groups may be planning violence around the event, Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam has temporarily banned weapons from the capitol grounds.

A Florida man has been acquitted of a felony murder charge stemming from a 2016 fatal shooting in Alabama.

A Houston County jury sided with the defense's argument that Joseph Dozier was acting in self defense when he shot Christopher Damon Grimsley in Dothan in September 2016, The Dothan Eagle reported. A mistrial had been declared in December and the trial rescheduled for this month when one of the prosecuting attorneys became sick, court documents showed.

Republican state lawmakers are showing their support for areas that declare themselves �Second Amendment sanctuaries,� and some plan to attend a gun rights rally Monday in Virginia that the state�s governor fears might turn violent.

Fifty members of the Republican House caucus, including Speaker Tim Moore and Majority Leader John Bell, signed a letter from Rep. Keith Kidwell�s office that supports those who want �Second Amendment sanctuaries,� especially in Virginia.

The Hawaii Legislature opened on Wednesday and an onslaught of bills targeting your Second Amendment Rights have been introduced. Below, find a brief description of the more significant anti-gun bills that were introduced this week. House Bill 1599, House Bill 1734, and Senate Bill 2152 would change the permitting system for the purchase of rifles and shotguns (long guns) to match the procedure currently in place for handgun purchases.

More than 100 supporters of the Second Amendment gathered together for a militia muster call on Saturday afternoon in Floyd County. Concerned Citizens of Floyd � the group who organized the event � says the purpose of the muster call was to organize volunteers willing to join a militia to defend the rights of Floyd County citizens if necessary. More than 100 men and women assembled for the event on Saturday.

Gun purchases in 2019 exceeded all other years on record since 1998, according to the number of background checks. The total number of background checks for 2019 was about 28.4 million�nearly the population of Texas. This is about 3% higher than the previous record of 27.5 million in 2016.

Dealers from across the state set up shop at the Peoria Gun and Knife Show, bringing thousands to the Expo Gardens. One gun and ammo store owner said their industry has been hit hard by new Illinois regulations then went into effect on January 17th. The Firearm Dealer License Certification Act applies to any business that leases, sells or trades firearms.

Taylor County became the latest Kentucky county to become a Second Amendment sanctuary Tuesday night in front of a packed room at the Taylor County Courthouse.

The discussion lasted less than two minutes in all and was approved unanimously by the Taylor County Fiscal Court.
