Bobby Timmons, director of the Alabama Sheriffs Association (ASA), is so opposed to acknowledging your inherent right-to-carry, and wants so badly to protect the revenue stream from permit fees, that he openly opposes the Second Amendment and allies with anti-gun extremists. He said in a media interview that the ASA is working with a Bloomberg-backed, national anti-gun group in order to oppose the constitutional carry legislation currently in the Alabama Legislature.

In 1955, the Remington Arms Company introduced the 6mm Remington. Fred Huntington designed the cartridge by necking down the case of a .257 Roberts to accept a 0.243" diameter bullet. When Huntington necked the .257 down to .243", he called it the ".243 Rockchucker" being that he didn't work for Remington. And he changed the shoulder angle, which Remington did not do when they commercialized the design." Nine years later, the cartridge was renamed the 6mm Remington, and the name has stayed the same since.

Given the year that 2021 was, what type of new handguns would you expect to see for 2022? The answer to that question should be obvious. With more and more folks wanting to carry handguns for personal protection, 2022 looks to be the year of the ultra-compact 9mm pistol. Almost without exception, the new-for-2022 handguns are small, 9mm, semi-automatics.

In my many years of teaching handgun training classes for new and experienced concealed carriers, various professional military and law enforcement groups, and other handgun owners and shooters, I have learned several very basic fundamentals in training that are not fully understood, only partially learned, and/or infrequently practiced or followed. I use the list that follows, 11 critical neglected training basics, as a regular, personal review to help myself and hope you also might find some value in them. These are training problems I regularly see with our students and the handgun skills, safety, and concealed carry classes.

The legislature only just gaveled in this week and anti-gun legislators and gun control groups couldnt wait to reintroduce their extreme gun ban legislation an assault weapons ban, Senate Bill 5217. Having failed to gain any traction in the 2021 Regular Session, the measure has now been re-filed and scheduled for a public hearing and executive session next week in the Senate Committee on Law and Justice. At the same time, the committee will also consider anti-preemption legislation, Senate Bill 5568. Please contact committee members and strongly urge them to OPPOSE Senate Bill 5217 and Senate Bill 5568.

In recent weeks, state governments across the country have begun prioritizing the issue of criminal justice reform, and at the federal level it is high time for Congress to return to this vital issue. It has now been four years since Congress, on an overwhelmingly bipartisan basis, passed the First Step Act the most significant criminal justice reform in decades. While the legislation arguably did more than any other to get low-risk, nonviolent offenders back on their feet, even President Donald Trump acknowledged that the federal government still has more work to do in this matter.

We are blessed with a large proliferation of sixguns, semi-automatic pistols and leverguns to choose from. However, especially when it comes to leverguns, there are absolute essentials. I will not argue the first choice is a .22. and I simply cannot imagine life without a quality .22 levergun. After a .22 has been selected, the next step is a .357 Magnum levergun.

The Colt Python is frequently named as one of the best revolvers ever made, and it has a large following among wheel gun enthusiasts. Colt relaunched its famous Python revolver in 2020 with two models: One with a 4.25-inch barrel and another with a 6-inch barrel. The new Python was well-received, even after more than a twenty-year production hiatus, but collectors still longed for the 3-inch model. Now the wait is over, as Colt is producing 3-inch barrel Python in 2022.

Forget the pandemic, politics, and all the other bad news that seemingly dominates our lives. A quick look at the calendar confirms that spring turkey season is just monthsand in some cases, weeksaway. And despite tales of doom and gloom from some corners of turkey country, opportunities to pursue Americas top game bird abound from coast to coast. Take your pick: thundering Easterns on a timbered ridge, reclusive Osceolas in a Florida cypress head, roaming Rio Grandes cruising a vast mesquite flat, or white-tipped Merriams high in the mountains.

The French MLE 1874 Gras is a historic rifle that marks a milestone in firearms development as powerful industrialized nations moved from black-powder rifles to cased smokeless-powder firearms at the end of the 19th century. The French were often at the forefront of military rifle technology, and the Gras represents their transition from paper cartridges into more modern brass-cased ammunition. This particular rifle holds a unique place in French firearms development and features various upgrades that occurred over decades of service.
