When Philip Edwards asked his wife, Joyce Edwards, to shoot air rifles with him at the Gary Anderson CMP Competition Center at Camp Perry, she had no desire to join him. She was afraid of guns and had no interest in learning how to shoot one.

I told him, I want to shoot with you as much as you want to go to Joann Fabrics with me, Joyce said.

Philip kept asking, and Joyce kept saying no, until the day about eight years ago when she relented. Although she was afraid she would shoot my arm off, she joined him on the range, took her first shot, and was hooked on the sport.

The people here relaxed me, she said.

That year, Joyce came in second in the Air Rifle National Matches, losing by just 3 points to a 22-year-old Army MP.

Hell hath no fury like the Left's and Democrats' scorn for Kyle Rittenhouse. Now, a casino in Sin City, an area known for its hedonism and moral depravity, feels that a teenager who acted in self-defense to fend off attackers is too much of an ethical conundrum to appear at the venue. It canceled an event Rittenhouse was having because it allegedly didn't align with the corporation's values.

After hunting with Stoeger's M3500 snow goose gun last February, it was great to compare the updated M3000 series about 10 months later in Arkansas for ducks. With sleeker lines and ergonomic updates, Stoeger's M3500 series easily fits among the best new shotguns for 2023. Gone is the blocky, somewhat oversized design of the M3500 from the last decade. Introduced in 2012, then also as an update to prior models, the series of hunting, field and self-defense shotguns had a big forend, big grip and burly workhorse attitude.

Most convicts would rather serve a year in a country jail or a state prison rather than six months in the Baltimore City Jail, which is dank, dirty, and dangerous especially for someone accused of murdering one of the citys Crip gang members. Medically retired Army Staff Sergeant Alejandro Gonzalez has spent more than 16 months behind bars, accused of First-Degree Murder. He and his legal team hope someone in the Baltimore States Attorneys Office will reexamine his case, realize he acted in self-defense, and drop the murder charges a second time.

SAF is joined by the Firearms Policy Coalition, Firearms Policy Foundation, California Gun Rights Foundation, Poway Weapons and Gear, Beebe Family Arms and Munitions, and the North County Shooting Center. Over at his generally gun-related blog, Standing His Ground, Professor Robert Leider has two interesting blog posts about state reactions to the Supreme Court's decision in Bruen: some states are enacting or considering policies to broadly restrict the carrying of firearms in many public situations, notwithstanding Second Amendment doctrine.

Florida state legislators are warning financial service providers they wont tolerate a new scheme to track the shopping habits of gun and ammunition buyers. Theyre the first state to do so and might not be the last. This is the United States of America. You dont get penalized for exercising a Constitutional right. The Second Amendment is nonnegotiable, and here in Florida, we are going to fight to protect the rights of Floridians, Republican state Sen. Danny Burgess recently proclaimed.

Lets be honest about one thing, the 5.56 NATO/223 Remington is a battle-proven cartridge that has valiantly served the US military for decades. The 5.56s effectiveness is well documented, and it is one of, if not the, most popular centerfire rifle cartridges in North America.

Yes, the 5.56 NATO is awesome. It has low recoil, a flat trajectory, is inexpensive, and has more varieties of ammo than you can shake a boomstick at.

More than 75% of people believe that threats against politicians are increasing, according to a new poll by the New York University School of Law. Named as defendants are Attorney General Kwame Raoul, Illinois State Police Director Brendan F. Kelly, and other officials in their official capacities. The lawsuit was filed in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Illinois.

By far the biggest news at Hornady and one of the major caliber headlines for 2023 is the launch of Hornadys 7mm Precision Rifle Cartridge. The 7mm joins the companys already successful PRC siblings, the 6.5 and .300 PRC. The newbie essentially fills the gap between those two, packing long, heavy-for-caliber projectiles on a standard long action. Hornady is clear, though, that the 7mm PRC uses temperature-stable, magnum speed propellants for consistent velocity and longer barrel life.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
Thanks to the governments past record, it is unfortunately very predictable that, in spite of the severe penalties mandated, tens of thousands of people will not comply at all (with Bill C-68). A new class of criminal will be created among harmless citizens whose previous lawbreaking may have resulted in nothing more than parking tickets. Lee Morrison, Canadian Mounted Police
