Rush's take on the gun issue flare-up in the Ashcroft hearings. Some good food for thought for conservatives/gun owners at the end of this piece. |

Enter "496" submit, then click on "Introduced Bill" for Adobe download of this nine page document introduced on the 10th, sent to "judiciary" on the 16th. This is a 4-year, $60 "shall issue permit" for residents. This is a far cry from BOR correct "Vermont-style" as you are well registered with a picture ID copy going even to the DMV. As it is now, CCW is a class I misdemeanor, second offense a class IV felony with an "affirmative defense" clause for "prudent" use, which I believe is untested. |

"I am glad to see the owner taken off the hook in the event of a robbery of his property, but I am a little bothered by the requirement of keeping the arms locked up. I see no use for a weapon that is not ready and available for use. . . Joe de Raismes while introducing the ordinance said that the safe storage of assault rifles was " a reasonable first step".
"A reasonable first step." Huh? Towards what, Mr. de Raismes? Come right out and say it, man. |

Had a round been chambered it would have discharged. Keep in mind that the lock does nothing to prevent someone from loading and chambering a round, even if the locked gun was indeed unloaded. A clever and curious child could easily insert a magazine and chamber a round, then push on the lock and fire the gun. This device does not make a gun safe, it gives the illusion of safety.
I just did it again, this time significantly tightening the lock; it took some force but it "fired
