The Associated Press asked every Republican and Democratic candidate running in the Senate primaries the following question: "Please explain your views on gun control, including whether the federal ban on "assault weapons" should be revised."

The following is Mark Kirk's answer: "I support the Second Amendment and sensible measures to reduce illegal gun violence." Mark Kirk, you can't have it both ways. As a potential candidate for the Senate, we are entitled to know your position on assault weapons. Are you fearful of the conservative right and the NRA if you say that you are for a ban? Are you concerned about losing independents if you say the current law allowing assault weapons should stand?

A shootout at a west Charlotte bar injured three, including Mark Bowens, a convicted killer from Belmont who police say initiated the Sunday night shooting.

...

Police say Mark Anthony Bowens, 37, and Rodney Bowens, 45, both of Belmont, were kicked out of the nightclub and then returned a short time later with at least one handgun and started shooting.

Bar owner Roosevelt Hinton, 67, of Charlotte, grabbed a handgun and fired back in self-defense, shooting Mark Bowens in the head and abdomen, police said.

...

Hinton was not injured in the incident and will not face charges, according to Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police.

Top Senate Republican leaders have chosen one GOP House member over another in a Panhandle Senate primary, saying Rep. Greg Evers has done a better job raising money and is simply more conservative than primary opponent Rep. Dave Murzin.

The endorsement is the second major one in a week for Evers, following the announcement that he has the backing of the National Rifle Association, which is making the election of Evers to the Senate one of its top priorities.

The Congress that takes America back from the left might very well be made up of Libertarians, Independents and Conservatives and not so much a concentration of Republicans anymore. Now, that could really work. The Republicans still have made no mention of second amendment rights and how 2A serves the nation.

The biggest issue is that the series of impositions on the nation the bailouts, the backroom deals, environmental laws, taxation, shortages, energy, the golden parachutes if unseated, health care reform and all the rest - are confiscating our money and coercing our dependency on the servants to the exclusion of all alternatives. Soon, choice will be a crime.

Apparently the "anti-gunners" will never quite get it. The Second Amendment will stand forever. Gun owners simply won't disappear quietly into the utopian night.

The only part of President Obama's economy that happens to be thriving is guns and ammo sales, in fact its been off the charts.

It's ultimately about freedom and enjoyment of the shooting sports, self defense, hunting, collecting, competing, etc. It's simple, if you don't like firearms don't own one.

If it's the death numbers that have liberals so concerned maybe look into auto accidents, or swimming pool drownings, after all neither of these two pursuits are protected in the Bill of Rights.

McDonald v. Chicago will question the constitutionality of the citys gun ban. If the court sides with gun-rights proponents, as it did in the 2008 case District of Columbia v. Heller, the Chicago-area politicians who dominate in battles over gun laws could lose their influence.

If they follow the Heller decision and they apply the second amendment to state and local governments, ... what happens logically is we have right to carry via the courts, said Todd Vandermyde, state lobbyist for the National Rifle Association.

The Chicago areas Democrats and the Springfield politicians who support them long have kept gun-rights laws from advancing in the Legislature.

President Barack Obama gave himself a B+ for his first year in office, but he gets an F when it comes to gun control issues, according to a leading advocacy group.

Calling Obama's record on gun violence during his first year in office an "abject failure," the Brady Campaign Against Gun Violence said Obama has broken campaign promises and failed to show leadership on the issue.

"As a senator and candidate, he promised to stand up to the gun lobby and fight for strong gun laws," the group writes in Obama's 2009 "report card." "Unfortunately, that Barack Obama has been absent in his first year in office."

Citizens gathering for an Open Holster Rally in Annapolis Lawyers' Mall on Monday, Jan. 18, 2010, are protesting inequality created by Maryland's discretionary system of issuing permits to carry a firearm, affirms the all volunteer, non-partisan effort Maryland Shall Issue ('http://www.MarylandShallIssue.org').

Scheduled guest speakers for the Open Holster Rally include:

- Delegate Don Dwyer
- Delegate Michael Smigiel
- Gun Owners of America President Larry Pratt

The event, sponsored by Maryland Shall Issue, seeks to publicize the unequal granting of permits as overwhelmingly granted to politically connected and wealthy individuals, while most others are denied permits.

Several hundred rallied for gun rights on the morning of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, followed by an afternoon rally attended by dozens calling for stricter gun laws.

Inside the Capitol, Democrats pushed through committee changes that will make it more difficult to advance looser gun laws, while Republicans cried foul.

So far, 30 bills have been filed that would allow concealed handguns to be carried in more places and make it easier to get both guns and the permits. Gun supporters had hoped to get more bills enacted this year because Republican Gov. Bob McDonnell, who took office on Saturday, supports gun rights. Former Gov. Tim Kaine often vetoed pro-gun bills.

Last week, NRA-ILA informed you about Senate Bill 6396, legislation that would bring California-style gun-control to the Northwest and ultimately ban many semi-automatic firearms commonly owned by Washingtonians.

In fact, SB 6396 is more far-reaching than it appears on the surface and will absolutely impact a gigantic swath of Washington firearm owners, including concealed pistol license holders, hunters and competitive pistol shooters. As examples, consider the following restrictions that flow from the provisions of this horrendous piece of gun control legislation"

SALT LAKE CITY More guns may be making an appearance in confrontations across Utah, adding intensity for better or worse.

Newly proposed legislation would be a green light for concealed gun owners to openly carry firearms and, if threatened, draw or exhibit their weapons and verbally threaten deadly force.

Depending on who you ask, that gun-induced intensity could end confrontations quicker, or lead to more deadly violence.

British soldiers are to be issued with a powerful new semi-automatic rifle which can target the enemy at up to 900 yards.

The weapon, which is US-made and uses 7.62mm ammunition, is the first new infantry combat rifle to be given to soldiers in more than two decades.

The order follows concern that the Army's standard issue SA80 A2 assault rifle, which fires smaller 5.56mm rounds, is less effective because its range is limited to about 300 yards. The new weapon has the same calibre as the AK47 rifles favoured by the Taliban.

"The Sharpshooter rifle adds to this arsenal and provides them with an additional, highly-precise, long-range capability.

All weapons exchanged must be operable and only one weapon per person will be accepted in exchange for a gift certificate. The program offers a $50 gift certificate in exchange for handguns and a $25 gift certificate for rifles and shotguns. Other weapons, ammunition or dangerous devices will be accepted for disposal only. No questions will be asked at either site, organizers said.

A Roseville man escaped his crushed vehicle that was trapped underwater by an unusual method: gunfire.

Authorities said the 28-year-old man was driving in his station wagon on Industrial Avenue on the bridge over Pleasant Grove Creek when a hands-free cell phone device activated, startling him and causing the vehicle to veer into the chilly waters...

The man, employed as an armed security officer at Thunder Valley Casino, found himself trapped inside his car about six to eight feet below the surface in the 50-degree water.

The Roseville Fire Department said the man used his handgun to shoot out his vehicle window...

The man flagged down a passing vehicle and was treated for minor injuries by emergency crews.

Like many youngsters his age, Gary Tudesko likes to hunt. "I hunt ducks, geese, all types of waterfowl," said Tudesko.

But last October, his recreational pursuits landed him in trouble at Willows High School.

The report does indeed highlight the situation quite clearly, and explains what we can expect in the future, just not as intended.

U.S. Military Weapons Inscribed With Secret 'Jesus' Bible Codes

Coded references to New Testament Bible passages about Jesus Christ are inscribed on high-powered rifle sights provided to the United States military by a Michigan company, an ABC News investigation has found.

The sights are used by U.S. troops in Iraq and Afghanistan and in the training of Iraqi and Afghan soldiers. The maker of the sights, Trijicon, has a $660 million multi-year contract to provide up to 800,000 sights to the Marine Corps, and additional contracts to provide sights to the U.S. Army.

Submitter's note: Reporters love to toss "high-powered" into any article about firearms. In this case, whether the term applies to the M-16/M-4 or the sight, it is wrong. The ACOG ranges in power from 1.5 to 6x.

Dad is Lee Miracle, of Sterling Heights, Michigan. After the events of 9/11 Lee, his wife Katerina, 43, and their children aged from six to 17 are preparing for attacks from foreign invaders. "During his trial in 2007 nobody was told that the officer whos sole testimony put James away was under investigation at that same time on allegations of dishonesty in another drug case that caused the King County Sheriffs Office to fire him just a few months after James was convicted and forced the prosecutors to drop even another similar case.

"Nor did it matter at the time that the place the officer claimed to arrest James didnt even exist and that testimony from other officers who arrived at the scene as backup contradicted with the arresting officers."

"The 28-year-old man, whose name wasn't immediately available, is an armed security guard {emphasis added} at Thunder Valley Casino, north of Sacramento."

Submitter's note: So he is one of the "anointed classes" in modern figurative Rome who is allowed to protect their life. If a "regular" person had saved their life in this manner, the only question would be how MANY charges would he/she be facing. All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others.
