Gun Grabbers Smear Permit Holders

As we noted last week, congressional Republicans are working to pass national concealed carry reciprocity. Allowing law-abiding citizens who hold concealed carry permits to use them across all state lines makes sense, both in terms of fighting crime and securing fundamental Liberty. Thats why the gun grabbers are so furiously fighting it. The anti-Second Amendment Violence Policy Center (VPC) released an updated report this week ominously titled Concealed Carry Killers. VPC alleges that firearm permit holders have killed at least 921 people in shootings that did not involve self-defense. Since 2007.

Sean Davis is the co-founder of The Federalist and a second amendment enthusiast. He joined this episode of Federalist Radio to dispel some common myths and misconceptions about guns and gun laws.

Davis gave advice on self-defense practices, suppressors, and factors consumers should consider before buying a gun. Military style means it looks black and scary. Either something is an assault rifle a military issue rifle capable of select fire or its not, and if its not, its not military style,' he said.

I didnt know if they had guns, she said. I didnt know if they were going to their vehicle to get another one and could come back and try to get to the safe, so my instinct was to go to my car and get the gun. She retrieved her 9mm from her car.

The Waffle House waitress then fired a shot into the woods (over their heads) according to Channel 2 Action News. She told reporters she was only trying to protect the store and her co-workers. As of this report, the waitress has been fired.

A Waffle House spokesperson told Channel 2 they are aware of the situation but cannot comment on personnel matters.

Can a person under 21 years of age possess a handgun in Ohio?

Yes. It is not a crime for a person under 21 years of age to possess a firearm. However, it is a crime for another person to furnish a firearm to a person under 21 years of age, except for use in lawful hunting, sporting, or educational purposes such as instruction in firearms or handgun safety, care, handling or marksmanship under the supervision or control of a responsible adult. A person under age 21 is not allowed to buy or attempt to buy handguns or handgun ammunition, but generally can buy and possess long guns and long gun ammunition.

With that law, Texas became the eighth state to allow campus carry (some of those states limit weapons to employees and faculty). Nearly half the states 23 leave the decision up to college and university officials, and 19 more ban the practice. But campus-carry drives, building on state-level Republican election wins in November, are underway in Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and Wisconsin.

If gun-control advocates claims were on solid ground, they wouldnt need to make up numbers.
For the fourth time in less than two years, the New York Times has run an editorial repeating blatantly false numbers to convince readers that concealed-handgun permit holders are dangerous (January 12, 2017; December 1, 2016; November 26, 2015; February 11, 2015).

Last week, the Times again asserted that in the almost ten years between May 2007 and January of this year, there were 921 non-self-defense gun deaths by U.S. concealed-handgun permit holders. Of these deaths, 295 were suicides and 30 were accidental shootings (with any type of gun, not just handguns). A total of 324 permit holders purportedly killed other people.

A three-judge panel of the Seventh U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals today handed the Second Amendment Foundation a victory in its challenge of firearms regulations in the City of Chicago, striking down a zoning provision, reversing an earlier ruling that upheld "distancing" restrictions for gun ranges, and reversing an earlier ruling that upheld certain age restrictions.

Writing for the court, Judge Diane S. Sykes noted, "To justify these barriers, the City raised only speculative claims of harm to public health and safety. That's not nearly enough to survive the heightened scrutiny that applies to burdens on Second Amendment rights."

Rep. Jered Taylor, a Nixa Republican, announced Wednesday he filed legislation to eliminate many gun-free zones and do away with the state income tax.

Taylor told the News-Leader the bill to repeal gun-free zones would allow people with concealed-carry permits to bring firearms into the state Capitol and higher education institutions. No permit would be needed to tote a gun in bars, restaurants, churches, day cares, sporting arenas, amusement parks and hospitals, although private businesses could still post signs forbidding concealed firearms.

A bill that would enable Kansas community colleges and public universities to continue to bar guns from their campuses has been introduced by a Johnson County lawmaker.

Under current law, public colleges will have to open their campuses to concealed firearms starting in July. Kansas passed a law in 2013 that enabled people to bring guns into public buildings. Public universities and community colleges are exempt from that law until July.

Rep. Stephanie Clayton, R-Overland Park, formally introduced legislation Tuesday that would indefinitely extend that exemption, allowing colleges to continue to restrict firearms on campus.

The Kansas Board of Regents tweaked its statewide guns on campus policy to respond to issues that arose as individual universities drafted their policies.

First, for people who dont want to or cant legally carry a concealed handgun but do want a form of self-defense, the statewide policy now says universities can allow stun guns.

Second, for people who do carry concealed guns, the statewide policy now allows universities to permit storage in additional secure places. Such storage locations are envisioned to avoid gun-wearers having to run to their cars or residences to lock up their guns each time they move from an area where concealed carry is allowed to an area where its prohibited, according to the Regents policy proposal.

On the heels of a record year of firearm sales in the United States, gun dealers at this weeks Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade show in Las Vegas credited a combined fear of gun restrictions by President Barack Obama and growing public participation in shooting for sport as reason for the sales explosion.

Exhibitors at this weeks annual SHOT Show also said a conservative, pro-Second Amendment Donald Trump administration would level off handgun sales as fewer Americans rush into stores fearing they wont be able to purchase them in the future.

I would imagine that there is probably a gun in the school to protect from potential grizzlies, DeVos, a native of Michigan who has spent decades advocating for charter schools, told the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee.

Actually, there isnt a gun on the campus, because having one would violate federal law, said Ray Schulte, superintendent of the district west of Yellowstone National Park that includes the Wapiti K-5 school.

However, he is open to letting local school boards decide whats best for their students.

And in the upper chamber, Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) reintroduced a law to "restore Second Amendment rights in the District of Columbia." Among other things, the bill would neuter the D.C. Council when it came to enacting gun control measures and get rid of D.C.'s firearm registration system.

Norton called Rubio a hypocrite, pointing to the signs in the Capitol Complex that explain that, by federal law, it's illegal to carry guns in the area. "Senator Rubio is protected by the gun ban in the Capitol Complex, yet he believes gun safety laws should not be available to D.C. residents and visitors to the nations capital," she said.
