An armed bank robber was knocked unconscious when he was tackled by a member of the public as he fled in Sydney's inner-west today. The man entered the Commonwealth Bank branch on Marrickville Road in Marrickville at around 3pm, waving a pistol and demanding money.

--Again, the 911 v. 1911 (or in this case, a shotgun) debate. Some homes are too poor to have telephones but when the affluent use a cell-phone, then there are "association[s]... urging the cell phone industry to upgrade 911 systems because more and more people use the phones."

5th story on page High school students from Glenpool, Norman, Tahlequah and Wayne will compete Saturday in the "We the People... the Citizen and the Constitution" state finals at the State Capitol. The winning team will advance to the national finals May 3-7 in Washington. "We the People..." started in 1987 to teach students about the Constitution and Bill of Rights.

Moore police are now patrolling an information superhighway of sorts.

A new program called "Ask A Cop" is using technology to help Moore citizens get better acquainted with Moore officers and ask questions via the Internet.

--The anti 2nd Amendment people have posted email addresses to OPPOSE a Colorado bill which put a 'shall issue" clause in the gun laws. I used their info to contact key state lawmakers to SUPPORT the bill. SB60 would also allow for other CCW permit holders in other states to carry in Colorado.

What was anticipated as an epic confrontation between the federal government and the "tax honesty" movement has gone up in smoke, with the cancellation of the planned Feb. 27 and 28 tax policy forum in Washington by the congressman that had been the petitioners' greatest official supporter.

The tax group had expected "to prove conclusively that the IRS does not have the legal authority to force employers to withhold taxes from paychecks or to force most Americans to file or pay income tax."
