Investigators said the man was shot twice and killed.
Neighbor Jody Lawhon told FOX40 the man suspected of slashing tires was shot by another neighbor.
FOX40 also spoke to the man who said he pulled the trigger. He tells us it was self-defense and calls the situation terrible.
No one has yet been arrested. The shooter is being interviewed, but neighbors said he was protecting his family.
"He was protecting his girlfriend and baby and him and his dad," Lawhon said. |

The shooting death of a 35-year-old Lawton man in November was ruled as an act of self-defense this week by the Comanche County District Attorney's Office.
District Attorney Fred Smith said Friday that the case was presented to his office by the Lawton Police Department last week. He said that after reviewing the case, it was determined that the Nov. 12, 2016, death of Michael Leonard Smith was an act of "justifiable use of deadly force". Michael Smith died after being found inside a house at 2803 NW Lindy suffering from gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at Comanche County Memorial Hospital. |

Im a simple guy that likes simple things. The Glock 19 is just that, a simple no frills handgun that has been widely accepted by both law enforcement and militaries worldwide. The less complicated a device is, the less likely it is to fail. Glock has embodied this theory when they designed their famous handgun. Not having an external safety doesnt compromise your ability to carry with confidence. Glocks Safe-Action has been preventing accidental discharges since its inception. If you ever need to draw your handgun in self defense, youll appreciate this concept as you wont be required to manipulate an external safety before pulling the trigger. These are precious fractions of a second that could be the difference between life and death. |

Faculty groups from every public university in the state on Friday announced opposition to students carrying guns on campus, a possibility that lawmakers have mulled as part of a broad push to dismantle gun regulations.
The announcement came in a statement from the Tennessee University Faculty Senates, which represents more than 10,000 professors across the state. The organization endorsed a resolution opposing students' ability to carry guns on campus "in anticipation of state legislation that may be introduced during the upcoming year," the statement said. |

A pro-gun organization is challenging the Justice Department under a Trump administration to investigate gun rights violations in Chicago and take action to rectify them.
In 2010, the Second Amendment Foundation won a landmark lawsuit (McDonald v. City of Chicago) that overturned Chicago's handgun ban. But SAF says the city has gone out of its way to create one road block after another to prevent Chicagoans from exercising their firearms rights. The DOJ, however, has been "little more than a spectator" in the meantime, according to SAF. |

"We don't expect a collapse, we expect organic growth that isn't all fear-driven," Lawrence Keane, senior vice president, government and public affairs, for the National Shooting Sports Foundation, told FoxNews.com. "We are likely to see the market to normalize, which is better for the industry long term. It is hard to respond to constant spikes. Slow and steady wins the race."
Ed.: Hopefully, there will be a spike in demand for threaded barrels and suppressors. |

Many of you have been comparing two similar cases of Macon women shooting teenage boys out of what they call self-defense. We sat down with a local attorney to verify what Georgia law says about use of force.
"A person is justified in threatening or using force against another when, and to the extent, that he reasonably believes such threat or force is necessary to defend himself or a third person against such other's imminent use of unlawful force," says Macon Attorney, Floyd Buford. |

At Industry Range Day I got a chance, like many others, to get some trigger time and check out the production version of the Maxim 9. For those who have not heard of this and have been living with out internet for the past couple years or perhaps you woke up from a coma, the Maxim 9 is an integrally suppressed 9mm handgun by SilencerCo.
I have been slowly following its evolution ever since it was debuted at SilencerCos Maxim Vice press event. At the time, the Maxim 9 was built off of a modified Smith & Wesson M&P 9.
Before the M&P9 iteration, the early prototype of the Maxim 9 was built off of a Beretta 92. |

And that, after all, is the essence of the Second Amendment, the principle that in a government of laws, and not of men, ultimate power and authority reside with the people. And that includes the power of self-defense, so that no person is left to depend solely on the states good graces for his or her very life.
Your NRA was among Trumps earliest and most faithful backers during a campaign in which conventional wisdom gave him no chance of winning. As a concealed carry permit holder, Second Amendment advocate, and father to two enthusiastic hunters and shooters, Trump may well be the most pro-gun president to date. |

Army chooses striker-fired 15+ round 9mm handgun, at reported price of $207/gun
The Armys pistol evaluation program had already taken a ridiculous amount of time and expense by the time it came up as a subject in the Senate hearings on just-confirmed-today Secretary of Defense James Chaos Mattis. Frankly, the program was as illustrative an example of government ineptitude as could be imagined.
Was it coincidence that a day or two before Donald Trump was sworn in as our 45th President that the Army finally got off its butt and made a decision? Hmmmm. |

On the December 5, 2016 episode of Bullets with AWR Hawkins, SilencerCos Josh Waldron anticipated the introduction of legislation aimed at reducing regulations on firearm suppressors but stressed that his anticipation was balanced by knowledge that the passage of the legislation would be difficult.
The legislationtitled the Hearing Protection Acthas now been introduced; it was put forward on January 9 by Representatives Jeff Duncan (R-SC-3) and John Carter (R-TX-31). Breitbart News caught up with Waldron at the 2017 SHOT Show to see where the bill stands and if his prediction of a battle for passage still appears to be on mark. |

Anti-gun legislation only affects the legal gun owner. Maybe the government should enforce the gun laws that are already on the books instead of putting more restrictions on the law-abiding citizens of this country. Take a look at who is doing the shooting every day. It is not the legal gun owner.
Citizens should have a right to defend themselves when bad guys try to harm them. Politicians and lawmakers have a double standard: they have armed bodyguards protecting them while believing law-abiding citizens should not have this right. |

Iowa's ban on owning vintage machine guns would be ended under legislation introduced by a lawmaker and supported by a firearms group.
Sen. Jason Schultz, a Republican from Schleswig in northwest Iowa, says his bill would allow possession of machine guns as well as short-barreled rifles and short-barreled shotguns.
Residents would only be able to buy machine guns built before 1986. |

The results should be placed into context, but rarely would an organization compromise its own mission so readily. Instead of talking about gang violence, gun controllers recast the same events as mass shootings. Instead of talking about the role of drugs or criminal conflicts, they spin the event into a case of gun violence that needs heightened regulation.
Take a quick spin through shootingtracker.com and youll see how most of the events described are not what are traditionally considered public mass shootings, at all. This is agenda-pushing propaganda at its worst. |

On January 19 the last full day of Barack Obamas presidency U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Director Dan Ashe issued an ammo ban on the use of traditional ammunition on Service lands. The ammo ban was issued unilaterally via Directors Order 219.
The National Shooting Sports Foundation (NSSF) reported:
[D.O. 219] requires several initiatives to go into effect immediately. Regional Directors are to work with state agencies to ban the use of traditional ammunition. It also ends the use of traditional ammunition on Federal land, including National Parks, tribal lands and national wildlife refuges in order to mirror policies in states where traditional ammunition is already restricted. |

The basic facts in the recent Fort Lauderdale Airport shooting are similar to those in other mass shootings.Five people were killed and several others were killed in an assault planned by Esteban Santiago, a discharged member of the US Military. A man with an automatic weapon and a recent colorful mental health history. Even though his licensing had expired post-discharge, he still carried around his military identification and had it on him during the attack. The gun he used in the attack was one he had acquired during his service in the military.
