The idea of a peanut butter chocolate chip chewy cookie sounds wonderful and in reverence to the burgeoning crises across the pond, why pay for a delicious treat, when the savage gallantry of violent crime is fully illustrated by an armed robbery attempt of a neighborhood with a sharp object? Imagine walking two blocks from the hotel at night in the vortex of the London urban corridor unarmed, the eyes of savages burning with a nasty and bloody glare. |

Gaston County is poised to join a growing list of counties in the Charlotte region who have declared themselves as "Second Amendment Sanctuaries." About six counties in the region have either planned to or have already passed resolutions, which promised to protect gun owners from what its leaders view as overly-restrictive firearms laws. |

Tim Barry of Fergus Falls introduced the commissioners and the public to the idea of a Second Amendment Protection Resolution. In the counties of Minnesota, and other states, this is a preemptive stand against gun-control regulations being sent down by state or federal legislatures, to take away our Second Amendment rights. In Virginia, most counties took this preemptive action just before their Senate moved several gun-control bills out of committee. Since the Senate, House, and Governor are Democrats, the folks in Virginia believe these new regulations will pass quickly. |

When two state lawmakers introduced handgun-control legislation in the mid 1970s, then-Sen. H.L. Bill Richardson formed Gun Owners of California, and later Gun Owners of America, in defense of Second Amendment rights. Richardson, who died Monday, Jan. 13, at 92, kept gun control legislation from getting to the governors desk through the 1980s, said Sam Parades, executive director of Gun Owners of California and Richardsons son-in-law.

In light of recent shootings on U.S. military installations, some military commanders are taking small steps to broaden Second Amendment rights on bases. While there is no blanket policy allowing Marines, sailors, airmen and soldiers to be armed on base, the Marine Corps recently gave the nod to allowing military police (MP) to carry personal guns concealed when they are off duty.

A lot of people are interested in 5.7x28mm for home protection and/or for concealed carry. The argument goes that it goes through body armor (which, in fairness, it does; select loadings are known for penetrating up to Level IIIa) and that you get greater capacity, which means youre MOAR ARMD!!! or something to that effect. Just how true is the hype? |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
America does not go abroad in search of monsters to destroy. She is the well-wisher to the freedom and independence of all. She well knows that by one enlisting under other banners than her own, were they even the banners of foreign independence, she would involve herself beyond the power of extrication in all the wars of interest and intrigue, of individual avarice, envy and ambition, which assume the colors and usurp the standards of freedom. JOHN QUINCY ADAMS (1821) |
