The Soviet 5.45x39 has been the Pepsi to the 5.56x45 NATOs Coke since the height of the Cold War, but because of import restrictions, it can be a real bear (Soviet pun intended) to find good ammo for a 5.45 rifle if youre not in a former USSR country or at least near one.

The Missouri House Committee on Elementary and Secondary Education is pushing through legislation that would allow more staff to carry concealed firearms in schools. The committee voted 14-3 to push forward the legislation. For the last decade, certified and approved teachers and administrators can carry guns at work; what would change here is who can be authorized as School Protection Officers (SPOs), not to be confused with the uniformed School Resource Officers (SROs). If the bill is passed, it would broaden the scope, opening the door for other staff to carry. Naturally, it has been met with both support and opposition.

The world is fascinatingly complex yet important truths are often simple. We shouldnt take that too far since most simple answers are also wrong or incomplete. That tension helps make life so interesting as we try to understand the world around us. For example, we saw violent crime increase in the last few years. Should we try to keep violent criminals away from guns, or should we try to keep violent criminals away from us? Is the tool dangerous or is the person dangerous? Lets look at both ideas and see if there are any simple answers to be found.

As dark a topic as it is, many have speculated as to the nature of a second American civil war. Several think tanks have even run scenarios regarding how such a war might play out and what could happen in the process. Whatever the nature of a hot war, we can be certain it would be very different than the last one, since our society is highly integrated now, unlike it was in the 1860s.

On Monday, January 22, the Senate Committee on Courts of Justice will meet at 8a.m. in the sustained effort to severely limit your Second Amendment Rights in Virginia! The committee will be hearing and possibly holding a vote on nineteen (19) gun-related bills. Progressive, anti-gun lawmakers hope to take these extreme anti-gun measures across the finish line and become law as many of the bills are companions of House Bills heard last week. It's critical you get engaged today by contacting your lawmakers and members of the committee and urge their opposition to these anti-gun measures!

On Nov. 7, 2023, the U.S. Supreme Court held an oral argument for United States v. Rahimi, a case that challenges the federal ban on gun possession by a person subject to a domestic violence restraining order (DVRO).  QUOTES TO REMEMBER
The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.' The right of the whole people, old and young, men, women and boys, and not militia only, to keep and bear arms of every description, and not such merely as are used by the militia, shall not be infringed, curtailed, or broken in upon, in the smallest degree; and all this for the important end to be attained: the rearing up and qualifying a well-regulated militia, so vitally necessary to the security of a free State. Our opinion is that any law, State or Federal, is repugnant to the Constitution, and void, which contravenes this right. [Nunn vs. State, 1 Ga. (1 Kel.) 243, at 251 (1846)]
