He instead called for a law that would allow the state to withhold sales tax revenue from cities that defund police, vowed to fight federal government overreach by the incoming Biden administration and expressed a desire to make Texas a second amendment sanctuary state.
Hes talking about issues that dont matter to Texans, said Abhi Rahman, communications director for the Texas Democratic Party. Hes talking about issues that really stand to benefit himself. |

Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) and Firearms Policy Foundation (FPF) announced the filing of an amicus brief with the United States Supreme Court in the case of NYSRPA v. Corlett, a case involving the right to bear arms in public. The brief is available at FPCLegal.org.
New York State forbids ordinary law-abiding citizens to carry a firearm outside the home without a license. To acquire a licence, an applicant must demonstrate a proper cause. This requires more than just a desire to exercise the right protected by the Second Amendment. It requires more than a desire to protect ones self or family, more than good moral character and the want to carry a weapon, and more than living or working in a high-crime area. |

Just two weeks after Gov. Mike DeWine reluctantly signed a so-called Stand Your Ground bill into law, two Democratic legislators are pushing in the new Ohio General Assembly term to have it repealed.
The passage of Senate Bill 175 during a lame-duck session last month marked a significant policy victory for Ohio gun advocates. The bill removed from state law a persons duty to retreat from a confrontation before using deadly force against a perceived threat. |

Come and Take It, read Sen. Ted Cruzs mask at the inauguration of President Joe Biden.
This message to an incoming president made it abundantly clear that Cruz, and those who recognize the constitutional right to keep and bear arms, will be ready to put up strong opposition should the Biden administration attempt to curtail your rights.
As it turns out, the particular phrase on Cruzs mask has roots in Texas, stemming from the Texas Revolution; specifically the Battle of Gonzales. |

Union County Sole Commissioner Lamar Paris adopted a resolution in support of the Second Amendment during Januarys commission meeting.
The resolution cited that its a Constitutional right for people to keep and bear arms as well as the Georgia Constitution which prohibits the state from infringing on that right.
Paris and Sheriff Mack Mason expressed their support for the Second Amendment and for the rights of citizens. They asked the governor and General Assembly to take no action which would violate the freedoms guaranteed in both Constitutions. |

Gun debates have especially succumbed to flagrant partisanship, with politicians so beholden to the party line that there is little room for conversation that deviates from Second Amendment rights on the one hand to gun control at all costs on the other. HB 102, which would permit campus concealed carry, follows this pattern, as evidenced by its passage in a straight party-line vote. The specter of the Second Amendment demands unthinking Republican support for all pro-gun positions, despite contravening evidence, common sense, or historical precedent. On all three levels, our elected representatives in the Montana Senate should oppose this bill. |

Demand is booming for guns and tactical gear following the 2020 presidential election and this week's inauguration. And stores in Lafayette are having trouble keeping pace.
Supplies at Emergency Response Gear have been flying off the shelves faster than employees can keep them stocked.
"We get it in, a lot of times they don't even get it out on the shelves, and it's gone already," says staff member Joy Rhode. |

Capitol Police are investigating an incident in which a Republican lawmaker was blocked from entering the House chamber after setting off a metal detector while apparently carrying a concealed gun.
Rep. Andy Harris, R-Md., set off the metal detector while trying to enter the chamber Thursday afternoon. The metal detectors were installed after the Jan. 6 insurrection at the Capitol, which left five people dead, including a Capitol police officer. The incident was witnessed by a reporter from the HuffPost website.
After setting off the machine, Harris was asked to step aside for further screening. At that time, an officer discovered Harris was carrying a concealed gun on his side, according to the reporter. |
