What have been effects of politics and new media on 'Gunwalker'?

"I believe what is ultimately called for is a truly independent counsel--not one reporting to DOJ, as current law provides, because that can create a fox/henhouse situation, and we've already seen many indications of the current OIG investigation being politically limited and compromised--which means Congress needs to re-up the office that expired in 1999. That will be the test of whether or not they have been effective, in my opinion."

Remember that behind every call for arms confiscation lies the deadly threat -- "We will take your firearms if we have to get the government to kill you to do it."

... "... You know, I have been criticized mightily across the political spectrum for my response to an an impatient gun grabber, 'If you try to take our firearms, we will kill you.' But the thing is, those who propose to take our liberty and our property have already decided -- in their ignorance of the unintended consequences -- that it is worth it to them (or, at least, inconsequential) if we are killed in the process." ...

"All gun confiscation proposals come from the same motivation. Thus, if we say, 'If you try to take our firearms we will kill you,' it is important to remember that this is a threat of defensive violence to counter their original threat of offensive violence.

"While the UFC has yet to make an official announcement, MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com) has confirmed with multiple sources close to the promotion that as of Jan. 23, 'absolutely no firearms, ammo, hunting or knife companies will be permitted as sponsors in any Zuffa-promoted events.'" ...

Submitter's Note: Back in the late 70's towns around the Norfolk Navy base were starting to crack down on sailors. Cops were hassling them, businesses were banning uniformed sailors, etc.. So the CO of the base arranged to have the base's entire payroll (which was still in cash in those days) delivered in the recently released $2 bills. Not just sailors, but all of the civilian contractors too. When merchants saw just how much of their business came from the base the signs came down and the cops became a *lot* less confrontational.

"South Carolinas new voter ID act has been in the news lately, with various civil rights groups and the Department of Justice damning it as discriminatory and racist. In fact, DoJ Civil Rights Division Assistant Attorney General Thomas E. Perez wrote a letter to Assistant Deputy Attorney General C. Havird Jones, Jr., Esq. concerning South Carolinas new voter ID law, Act R54 ... (on letterhead which means hes wearing his Official DoJ Civil Rights Division Enforcer of the Law beanie) ... Logically, one would believe that the process to acquire these permits is strict and intelligent, but in gun-friendly Virginia, this is not the case.
