The stabbing death of a 25-year-old man outside his home in Rosedale on Wednesday morning is being investigated as justifiable self defense, Baltimore County police said.

Police on Wednesday said the countys homicide unit was investigating. On Thursday, the department provided more details about the circumstances, and said no charges will be filed in the killing of Michael Paul Connolly III, who lived in the 5600 block of Utrecht Road.

A prosecutor Thursday said two recent shootings one fatal may have self defense or "stand your ground" aspects.

But Assistant State Attorney Jeff Hendriks could reveal no specifics about the investigations in St. Lucie and Martin counties.

The fatal shooting happened Jan. 11 at Stewart Mine on Indrio Road west of Interstate 95 in northern St. Lucie County.

Another mass school shooting. We know the drill. We will charge the alleged assailant with first-degree murder not a deterrent, but it makes some people feel good. Self-defense classes will be offered they don't really work, but they make people feel better. There will be makeshift memorials of teddy bears, flowers, candles and balloons they don't change anything, but they make people feel better.

What has disappeared in the last year or so is any cry for prevention. What can we do to make sure this doesn't happen again?

Those who oppose the Second Amendment will never let up in their fight to strip down our firearms freedom, so this upcoming vote is as important as the 2016 election was, according to NRA-ILA Executive Director Chris Cox.

Cox was a guest of Cam Edwards when NRATV was broadcasting from the Shooting, Hunting and Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show in Las Vegas last week.

Preventing known stalkers or abusers , whether they're married or not from possessing a gun should be a slam dunk.

But as the Oregon chapter of Moms Demand Action gets ready to support a bill dealing with language in the state's existing gun background check bill, they recognize it won't be an easy fight.

As a person who acquired a permit to carry back in the '70s and has utilized said permit every day since, I get the Second Amendment argument. What I don't get is obsession with the idea that it's a good plan to allow guns in the Woodbury County Courthouse.

A courthouse can be a very emotional arena. Under those circumstances, having easy access to a firearm does not seem like a good idea. Plus, the idea of allowing guns on some floors and not others makes no sense. Once a gun is in the building, it's in the building, period. - Jerry J. Kobs

On Tuesday, January 30 at 5:30pm in the House chambers, the Legislature has scheduled a public hearing on three gun bills at the Statehouse. Long-time anti-gun Senator Phil Baruth is aggressively pushing gun control and has called for a public hearing early in session. Sign-up to testify is outside of Room 1. It is essential that Vermont gun owners attend and show a strong presence at the Capitol to deter infringements of your Second Amendment rights.

Idaho lawmakers are once again proposing joining 28 other states in the call for a Constitutional Convention.

On Thursday, legislators printed the bill that would allow states to convene a convention under Article Five of the Constitution once 34 states had signed on. Convention seekers want to add a balanced budget amendment to the Constitution, and with only six more states needed, groups are making a strong push in Idaho.

Thirty-eight states would need to agree to any proposed amendment for it to added to the Constitution.

But Adrienne Evans, executive director with United Vision for Idaho, says people are concerned across the political spectrum, because a convention wouldn't necessarily by constrained to a single subject.

Anti-gunners are once again rearing their mudslinging heads, as social media is ablaze with a renewed furor over the Second Amendment after the tragic shooting at Marshall County High School in Benton, Kentucky. For reasons as yet unknown, a 15-year old boy opened fire on his classmates, killing two and wounding at least 18 more.

This weeks heart-rending loss of life and innocence, perpetrated by a teenager, brings a spine-chilling sense of dj vu to the residents of the Four Corners area in New Mexico. Just a few short weeks ago, another shooter murdered two teens and then killed himself on the campus of Aztec High School.

A proposal to repeal the states handgun licensing law was dumped Wednesday by an Indiana House committee in the face of opposition from several police organizations.

The House Public Policy Committee voted 12-1 in favor of an overhauled bill that keeps the current handgun licensing process while eliminating what are now fees of up to $125 for a lifetime permit to carry a handgun in public.

The committees action sidesteps what couldve become a contentious debate over repealing the permit law that supporters argue infringes on the U.S. Constitutions Second Amendment by forcing gun owners to get fingerprinted, submit to a police background check and pay the licensing fees.

Yesterday, January 24th, the Indiana House Public Policy Committee passed House Bill 1424 with a vote of 12-1. Sponsored by Representative Timothy Wesco (R-21), the legislation as passed from the committee would extend the duration of the regular License to Carry a Handgun (LCTH) to five years and remove fees for lifetime licenses.

On the Senate side, the Judiciary Committee passed Senate Bill 237 with a 7-0 vote. Sponsored by Senator Rodric Bray (R-37), SB 237 would also extend the duration of a 4-year LCTH to five years. It brings Indiana back into compliance with federal regulations to allow the LTCH to qualify as an alternative to the NICS check.

Speaking to the Nebraska Legislatures Judiciary Committee on Thursday, Pansing Brooks said Legislative Bill 780, which bans multiburst trigger activators, such as bump stocks, is a small step but is something to address the proliferation of mass shootings in the United States.

Pansing Brooks said there is no Second Amendment right to a gun accessory.

Competitive shooter Bruce Piatt was asked: What is the best tip you could give a new shooter?

Im often asked a series of questions by new shooters looking to improve their skill. Some are trying to score better in competition, while some are looking to shoot their deer rifle better. And, of course, there are the ones who intend to carry a gun for self-defense. It doesnt matter what style of shooting you are doing, my answers usually apply across the board.

As Fox News reports, Democratic Representative Rob Bonta is behind AB1927, which the bills author says is designed to prevent people with suicidal thoughts or the intent to hurt themselves from purchasing guns.

But, as Bonta told the San Francisco Chronicle, people contemplating suicide would have to provide their names to the state officials processing background checks before a gun is purchased. With their name on the list, they would then be unable to legally buy a gun. If at some point they decided that they are no longer suicidal, those who have voluntarily relinquished their Second Amendment rights can have their names removed from the list if they can demonstrate that they are free of suicidal thoughts.

Indianas cities will bear the brunt of revoking the license-to-carry law.

House Bills 1022 and 1424 would repeal the law that requires a person to obtain a license to carry a handgun in Indiana.

Indianapolis is setting records for gun homicides; this is not the time to weaken gun laws. A study by The Law Center To Prevent Gun Violence ranked states by the number of gun-related deaths and found that states with the weakest gun laws have the highest number of gun-related deaths, while states with the strongest gun laws have the lowest.

A Virginia House of Delegates subcommittee voted down a bill to ban bump stocks Thursday, despite hearing emotional testimony from a survivor of the Las Vegas shooting that killed 58 people last year.

The House Militia, Police and Public Safety subcommittee stopped the bill on a 4-2 party-line vote.

The legislation, sponsored by Del. Mark H. Levine, D-Alexandria, would have banned the rapid-fire gun modifications like the ones the Las Vegas shooter used to spray concertgoers with bullets from a hotel window.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
The "assault weapon" ban didn't stop the [World Trade Center/Pentagon] terrorists, Brady checks didn't stop them, the high capacity magazine ban didn't. Right to Carry would have. If it had saved only one tower and the people in it, it would have been worth it. GUN CONTROL KILLS. LTC Stasski, 9/11/01
