If only D.C. residents had "Star Trek" phasers permanently set to stun. The Supreme Court would find the constitutional challenge to the District’s current gun bans so much easier to resolve.

Think about how different the problem would look: People could protect themselves without killing anyone. The weapons couldn't be used for suicide, and children wouldn't get hurt. The city's concerns about the dangers of lethal firearms would be satisfied, while citizens would still have effective tools for self-defense.

Major Florida gun-show promoter Victor Bean has weighed in on Tuesday’s Republican presidential primary, telling an e-mail list of nearly 90,000 Second Amendment advocates the he’s voting for John McCain.

Bean’s e-mail says he consulted with Pasco County GOP Chairman Bill Bunting, a prominent statewide gun-rights advocate, who spoke with McCain, Mitt Romney and Mike Huckabee about gun issues in recent days. Bunting and many Second Amendment activists were backing Fred Thompson, who dropped out of the race last week.

Mike Huckabee is the only major candidate of either party who has consistently reflected our pro-life, pro-family values. Gov. Huckabee has never wavered in his support for the Second Amendment.

In a time of economic uncertainty, Gov. Huckabee understands that high energy costs are hurting families. That is why he is for ending our demand for foreign oil within 10 years.

He said his concealed weapon came in handy when several men demanded he give them his wallet in North Salt Lake while he was pumping gas. The student said he told the men he had a gun and "doesn't miss." He said he then pulled out the gun, and the men left.

Currently under Utah state law, students the age of 21 and older can obtain a concealed weapons permit after a rigorous process and can carry a firearm on campus or anywhere other than specifically designated areas. If approached by an officer, the permit holder must identify their permit status to make the officer aware of the situation.

Dexter Taylor, instructor, teaches a concealed weapons permit course for the Department of Public Safety.

Paul, a congressman from Texas, is running against Republican candidates Arizona Sen. John McCain, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani and former Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee.

Although Paul has yet to win a primary election, he placed second in the Nevada and Louisiana Republican Party caucuses.

Those at Freedom Hall say Paul supports the same things they do, including veterans and the military, crackdowns on illegal immigration, the Second Amendment and homeschooling.

Congressman Christopher Carney (D-10) became a member of the bipartisan Congressional Second Amendment Caucus, which is dedicated to the right of lawful individuals to own firearms as stated in the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.

“As an avid sportsman, I value the time I spend taking my own children hunting. As a Member of Congress, I know that we must fight to preserve the Constitutional right for individual citizens to keep and bear arms. Hunting and shooting sports are valued traditions in Pennsylvania, and I will always fight to protect the Constitutional right to bear arms,” said Congressman Carney.

Now that Fred Thompson has withdrawn from the presidential race, his supporters are left to find a new candidate to support.

But who should it be? McCain wants amnesty for illegal aliens. Romney flip-flipped on abortion. Giuliani favors gun control.

No, we need a candidate who is against amnesty and sanctuary cities/states, supports the Second Amendment, never wavered from being pro-life and is a true fiscal conservative.

There is only one candidate who fits all these qualifications: 10-term congressman from Texas, Ron Paul.

Thanks to the fact that he was armed & prepared to defend himself, an armed man in Atlanta bound to a wheelchair was able to fight off a man who attacked him just outside his home. He is alive & uninjured, but the status of his attacker is unknown other than he was taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds in his arm & chest. I'm very glad that he made the correct choice to be prepared to defend himself. Otherwise the headline probably would have been "Man in a wheelchair murdered by a thief."

Corrections officers who were supervising Williams had recommended to mental-health authorities that Williams be involuntarily committed to a psychiatric hospital, but that was not acted on after his release from prison last January, a source familiar with the investigation said.

The Department of Corrections (DOC) designated him a Dangerously Mentally Ill Offender, requiring extra oversight by community corrections officers. He was receiving medication and treatment from Sound Mental Health.

Williams, diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia, has a history of mental illness dating to his teenage years in Arkansas, according to court records.

There's bound to be a backlash when fans see Bucky Barnes, the new Cap, toss the famous shield and whip out a firearm.

Red's Trading Post will have its day in court, possibly in February.

U.S. District Judge Edward Lodge of Boise on Thursday rejected a federal agency's claim that the Twin Falls gun dealing business has fallen short of showing grounds for a hearing.

"The judge wants to hear all the people and look at all the evidence," said Mark Geston, a Boise attorney representing the gun dealership.

The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives had asked for a summary judgment against the business it says "willfully" violated agency rules. The ATF can administratively revoke a gun dealer's federal firearms license. But in Red's case, the business has challenged the agency in court and in the court of public opinion.

If Mr. Clement "properly understood" the Bill of Rights, he would know that the sole purpose of the Amendments, as stated in the preamble to the Bill of Rights, was to prevent the federal government from "misconstruing or abusing its powers." To accomplish this, "further declaratory and restrictive clauses" were being recommended. In other words, the Bill of Rights, when adopted, placed "constitutional prohibitions" on the powers of the federal government to prevent that government from "misconstruing or abusing its powers" concerning the rights enumerated in the Amendments. Thus, it is constitutionally impossible for the Second Amendment to "permit" or authorize the federal government to regulate a right. No such power is found in the Amendment.

You know something is terribly wrong when the arch liberal, gun-grabbing Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence actually salutes the Bush Administration for their support for the draconian DC gun control Bill!

Biology and culture fuel boys' fascination with guns, several experts on youth violence say, adding that this is not a new or necessarily bad thing.

Upgrades are being put in place at the indoor rifle range in Delta Junction to protect shooters, including the members of the town's high school rifle team, from toxic lead dust. "We've got a whole new ventilation system going in," said Mike Bender, president of the Delta Sportsman's Association, which owns and operates the rifle range. The association began upgrading the facility earlier this year after tests in March revealed several members of the Delta High School rifle team had dangerously high levels of lead in their blood.
