"The presidential campaign strategy for former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani complete with a $100 million fundraising target for this year is out of the bag."

"The paper said an anonymous source obtained the document after it was left behind on a campaign swing in 2006, but Giuliani spokeswoman Sunny Mindel claimed it was actually pilfered from airline luggage." ...

"... Mindel played down its importance, saying it is 'simply someone's ideas which were committed to paper over three months ago.'"

"The document also predicts some $100 million could be spent against Giuliani to highlight political vulnerabilities like his three marriages and moderate stances on social issues including gun control and gay rights."

"Historically, the second amendment was meant to protect the citizens from the government gaining too much power. The right to keep and bear arms was foundational to the creation of security in this nation. Historically, every government that has ever denied their citizens the right to keep and bear arms has turned quickly into a one-party rule dominion over that nation. The citizens of this new nation realized that governments under the control of either a monarchy or a one party rule could become power hungry, and the only way to maintain power would be to deny the citizens their right to protect themselves." ...

"It is that time of year when each of us take stock of what we have done, where we are, and what we would like to accomplish in the coming year. This reflection usually ends up in a list of resolutions. I am drawing up two lists this time and hope that you will do the same. The first is my perennial list: Lose ten pounds, Exercise every day, Call my mother more often ..."

"With that, I will move on to my second list. This is the one that I plan on taking much more seriously so that I wont feel too badly about skipping a morning run every now and then. Below are a few things that I will do my absolute best in trying to accomplish in 2007:"

"1. Do not remain silent so that only anti-gun voices are heard. ..." ...

"On the Federal Page in Tuesday's Washington Post, Jeffrey Birnbaum, who covers lobbying, suggests it's not 'genuine' for the National Rifle Association to sound the alarm on threats to gun rights at the moment: 'No one expects gun legislation to pass this year.' But in dismissing the 'not-so-imminent threat' (as the article's headline describes it), Birnbaum goes too far:"

"The document is filled with sinister-looking caricatures of supposed anti-gun figures such as filmmaker Michael Moore, comedian Rosie O'Donnell, New York City Mayor Michael R. Bloomberg (R) and CBS News anchor Katie Couric."

"Supposed? Doesn't Birnbaum remember Rosie trying to wallop NRA spokesman Tom Selleck into submission? ..." ...

"With little fanfare, the federal government has substantially increased the number of licenses it has taken away from gun dealers over the past five years, according to newly obtained statistics."

"The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives pulled federal firearms licenses from 22 gun dealers across the country in 2001. That number increased almost six-fold last year when ATF revoked 131 licenses, statistics show."

"Despite the increase, license revocations remain exceedingly rare and the number pales in comparison with the roughly 105,000 people and businesses nationwide permitted to sell firearms and ammunition." ...

"Anybody who's been keeping abreast of small arms and ammo develpments in the USSOCOM arena should already be aware fo the 6.8x43mm SPC a.k.a. '6.8mm Remington SPC (Special Purpose Cartridge)' cartridge concept. The 6.8x43mm Special Purpose Cartridge (SPC) was conceived and designed with the help of members of the U.S. Army 5th Special Forces Group as a much better answer for urban warfare and CQB (Close Quarters Battle) than the 62gr 5.56x45mm NATO round, and a much better short and intermediate distance sniping round than the 77 gr. 5.56mm round that's been utilized of late in the SPR (Special Purpose Rifle) by U.S. Spec-Ops personnel in the Middle East." ...

In a recent incident, police shot a 25-year-old Kent County man who had forced his way into the apartment of his girlfriend and held their toddler hostage."

"... In many of these cases, protective orders ... had been signed by either a District Court commissioner or a judge. They are important tools to help prevent troubled relationships from turning worse through abuse, harassment and physical violence. But they're not cure-alls. A few tweaks to the law can reinforce their effectiveness." ...
