"With that being the case, if no one gave Sincic permission to bring a firearm or imitation firearm (as the one in the video may be) onto school property, it's presence becomes a legitimate matter for public and legal inquiry."

"In light of recent developments nationwide since events in Ferguson and agitation from race profiteers began ginning violent anti-police sentiment in urban areas nationwide, it might be prudent to anticipate what it would take to precipitate a nose dive in high-level policing. Its not hard to conceive of situations becoming so dangerous that those who wear uniforms will think twice about responding in certain areas, leaving citizens in those neighborhoods on their own."

But conservative pundit Ann Coulter said in May 2014 that she wouldnt vote for Carson because his stance on the Second Amendment is convoluted and he wants to ban semiautomatic weapons in cities.

Coulter indicated Carson suggests gun control measures that involve Constitutional exclusion zones in urban areas. She asked What kind of man is it that thinks that it is OK to tell other men how they can or cannot defend themselves or their family?

Coulter described Carsons Second Amendment views as a major malfunction in understanding the foundational elements of this country, adding I wont vote for someone that displays an inclination to ignore the U.S. Constitution.

It is amazing to me that we are already in 2015.

The year 2014 was a huge year for the Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA) because of all the changes we made internally.

The Illinois State Rifle Association has always been innovative. Last year was a real challenge. For some time we had been considering completely revamping our website ( www.isra.org ) ; in 2014 it happened. It is one thing to plan the website, trying to think of everything; it is another to actually launch it.

A year ago this New Years Eve, John Filippidis of Florida was driving south with his family on Interstate 95 when the Maryland Transportation Authority Police pulled over his black Ford Expedition and proceeded to raid it while his twins, wife and daughter looked on separated in the back seats of different police cruisers.

The officers were searching for Mr. Filippidis Florida-licensed, palm-size Kel-Tec .38 semi-automatic handgun, which he left at home locked in his safe. (Maryland does not recognize handgun permits issued by other states.)

The Washington Times published two news stories December 30 in which America's Founding Fathers would have seen as a disturbing pattern.

The paper reported that the pace of military-grade shipments to police stations has accelerated in the wake of the Ferguson, Missouri riots and that Maryland State Police have been targeting out-of-state handgun owners on highways for technical violations of state gun control laws.

The Times noted that the federal Law Enforcement Support Office sent nearly 4,000 automatic weapons to local police agencies in just the last three months:

The family of a sword-carrying man who was killed in September has filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against the city of Saratoga Springs, Utah, and the two officers who shot him.

Darrien Hunt, 22, was shot to death while carrying a 40-inch samurai-type sword.

Prosecutors said that Hunt lunged at two officers, Cpl. Matt Schauerhamer and Officer Nicholas Judson and their actions were reasonable. The medical examiners autopsy report determined Hunt was shot six times, once in the back.

The lawsuit alleges that under the Second Amendment, Hunt had a right to carry the sword and the two officers did not have a right to demand that he surrender.

After the sweeping gun control, labeled as gun safety and a background check initiative passed in Washington state, many speculated that it would quickly be challenged in the courts. They were right. The Second Amendment Foundation has picked up the ball and is running with it. Lawsuits against infringements of the second amendment have become something of a specialty of theirs, and they have had many notable successes. They supported the Heller case, and were instrumental in McDonald, and Palmer, among others. Here the SAF press release:

The story also highlights complications and training issues which are specific to female gun owners, particularly those with children. At the excellent web site Guns and Curves, Jenn Jacques anguishes over this familys loss but also takes the opportunity to remind new or prospective carriers about the importance of being ever vigilant when it comes to gun safety.

The Thurston County sheriff's office says the fight between the 35-year-old and 37-year-old brothers spilled outside and two 22-year-old soldiers from Joint Base Lewis-McChord who lived in a nearby house intervened.

Lt. Cliff Ziesemer says one of the 22-year-olds was armed. A shot was fired as the older brother tried to disarm him. The 37-year-old died at the scene.

The shooting was determined to be self-defense. No one was arrested.

This week in Colorado [sic], a two year old child unzipped his mothers concealed carry purse and managed to fire her gun, shooting the mother in the head and killing her instantly. The story has created a firestorm on the web, with pro-gun people saying she was careless to allow the child to access the gun, and anti-gun forces saying its just another reason why guns are bad and no one should have one. The morning the story hit, I received an email from my niece. She was considering getting a concealed carry permit and was asking how this could happen and if it could have reasonably been avoided.

Have you ever been to a firearms range where you were not allowed to point your gun in the air during reloads? Well, that can be downright dangerous.

Firearms ranges have restrictions. I get why. The big L-word: liability. Ive been to both indoor and outdoor ranges that have restrictions. Most ranges are static. Although I prefer ranges with movement, I totally understand static ranges. People walking around could get hurt.

My colleague Robert Tracinski recently re-instituted the Democratic Party Death Watch, an alert that signifies the donks are betting everything on the far-left base while driving away their own blue-collar and middle class constituents. The modern Democratic Party being a clumsy amalgamation of economic buffoons and social justice warriors, a death watch is an appropriate vigil to keep, although I wouldnt bet against Elizabeth Warren making fiscal insanity and dimwitted neo-Marxist philosophy a mainstream policy platform. It has been done before.

In a groundbreaking opinion examining the Gun Control Acts categorical prohibition on firearm possession for persons who have been committed to a mental institution, the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit determined the Second Amendment prohibited application of the ban to an individual who had been committed 28 years earlier and had no viable option for seeking restoration of his rights.

The case is Tyler v. Hillsdale Co. Sheriffs Dept.

There were 12 fatal school shootings nationwide in 2014, but some South Carolina legislators are worried that the state's students don't hear enough about the benefits of guns.

State Rep. Alan Clemmons, R-Myrtle Beach, pre-filed a bill last week to designate Dec. 15 statewide Second Amendment Awareness Day. On that day, students would compete in a poster and essay contest followed by a three-week class on the Second Amendment and gun rights approved by the National Rifle Association.

In Arlington TX, a group of Ron Paul style libertarians have become self-appointed cop-watchers. Armed with guns and video cameras, and sometimes wearing police hats with pig ears, they scan police radios to learn where police activity is taking place and drive to the locations to record the police. They also record traffic stops, heckle cops, and "bait cops into on-camera arguments about the Second Amendment and state laws."

The Cup Song, a tune made popular by the 2012 film Pitch Perfect, has been performed as a cover by all kinds of talented and not so talented musicians, including 2105 Miss America Kira Kazantsev.

The song traditionally uses red Solo cups to make a beat. Jim Huish of the band Ambers Drive kept the Solo cups, but in his gun version, they were used a little differently.

On December 1 2014, Texas state representative Matthew Krause (R-Ft. Worth) introduced legislation barring the in-state enforcement of nearly any federal gun control measure past, present or future.

The legislation, HB422, requires the state to refuse to enforce federal gun control measures which infringe on the exercise of the Second Amendment.

Subsection (b) of the bill specifies how the agencies and law enforcement officers of the state or any local government entity in Texas would be prohibited from being used for that purpose:

In light of the current incident, law officials are encouraging all gun owners to get as much training as possible before using their weapon in self-defense.

Eau Claire police officer Kyle Roder says law enforcement is working to make sure people are educated when it comes to self-defense.

We think people understand the law and know their rights, however, we are very diligent in making sure that they use the proper precautions so as long as we have a public who understands that and is safe, we don't have this issue, says Roder.

Chippewa County District Attorney Steve Gibbs says according to a legal doctrine, the law allows homeowners to protect themselves with a weapon.

In reference to Jonathan Bairds My Turn column (Monitor Forum, Dec. 26), I would like to congratulate him on a well-articulated piece regarding armed legislators in the State House.

Well written, but it certainly missed the target. For one, I have seen no evidence of any legislator macho showboating. Concealed carry means exactly that, so how would anyone know who is actually carrying? That in itself discredits the assessment of bullying and intimidation.

They are circling the wagons so they can stifle any advancement of gun rights in Wyoming.

But thats what theyve been doing all along.

As an example, the University of Wyomings governing body and the Wyoming Teachers Union are at the ready with an entire team of lobbyists who will stand in the way of the Second Amendment.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
Before a standing army can rule, the people must be disarmed; as they are in almost every kingdom of Europe. The supreme power in America cannot enforce unjust laws by the sword; because the whole body of the people are armed, and constitute a force superior to any bands of regular troops that can be, on any pretense, raised in the United States. Noah Webster in "An Examination into the Leading Principles of the Federal Constitution," 1787, in Paul Ford, ed., Pamphlets on the Constitution of the United States, at p. 56 (New York, 1888).
