The 243 Winchester and 6mm Remington are two 6mm rifle cartridges that are extremely versatile, as they can pull double-duty as a varmint round as well as a potent deer hunting cartridge. Despite firing the same 6mm diameter bullets, the 243 Win is a commercial success while the 6mm Rem remains somewhat of a fringe cartridge. |

When it comes to varmint hunting, there are few rounds that can compete with the popularity and success of the 223 Remington. Since its release in 1964 and adoption by the US military, the 223 Rem has been nigh untouchable as the go-to option for plinking, long range target shooting, and varmint hunting. |

Cook Countys tax on firearms and ammunition continues to be the subject of controversy as an Illinois appeals court takes the issue under consideration. Last week, the First District Appellate Court of Illinois heard oral arguments in the lawsuit gun rights advocate Todd Vandermyde and others brought against Cook County. The $25 tax on firearms purchases and 1 to 5 cent tax per cartridge of ammunition has been in place since 2012, but was struck down by the Illinois Supreme Court in 2021.

Despite 38 states legalizing medical marijuana, the federal government still classifies it as a Schedule 1 narcotic. As a result, individuals who obtain medical marijuana ID cards and use medical marijuana to treat are prohibited from purchasing and/or possessing firearms and ammunition under 18 U.S.C. 922(g)(3). Put simply, those who opt to use medical marijuana for treatment forfeit their Second Amendment rights under the current state of the law.

Once again, Florida Senate President Kathleen Passidomo has made it crystal clear that only she gets to decide which civil rights are allowed in Florida, and the Second Amendment isnt one of them. The Naples Republican is singlehandedly blocking legislation that would restore our right to Open Carry a key component of the right to keep and bear arms, which is codified in the Second Amendment of the United States Constitution and Art.1 Sec. 8 of the Constitution of the State of Florida.

Males have been warned for millennia about the dangers of chasing the female of the species to the exclusion of other things. It doesnt matter if the pursuit is on two or four legs, history has shown single-minded focus on lasciviousness invariably leads to trouble. I know of one big deer who would certainly agree, but he cant, because he didnt see the pudgy fence post armed with the new Marlin 336 by Ruger. |

Welcome to todays Photo of the Day! The J.M. Browning Harmonica Rifle is an extremely rare percussion repeating firearm invented by Jonathan Browning, father of famed gun designer John Moses Browning. Jonathan Browning built these unusual slide repeater rifles in the 1840s and 1850s, with this particular example dated 1853. The rifle has a five-round chamber slide bar that allows multiple shots without reloading, making it one of the earliest detachable magazine designs. Browning brought this rifle with him when he led a Mormon pioneer wagon train to Utah in 1852. After settling in Ogden, he continued improving the harmonica gun design before passing away in 1879.

Primary Weapons Systems debuted its UXR, or Universal Exchange Rifle, to much acclaim at SHOT Show 2024. The UXR is basically a modified long-stroke piston action that is completely modular and can be configured to shoot anything from small-framed .223 calibers to large-framed .308 calibers. Imagine going from a short-barreled .300 Blackout CQB gun to a long-range 6.5 Creedmoor sniper rifle in a few minutes!
