"Our Constitution is currently under a greater threat than a teenaged boy at a Michael Jackson sleepover. Yes, this rock solid foundational document, a major cause of our countrys amazing success, is undergoing some serious thrashing by judges, bureaucrats, politicians, prosecutors and police. I dont know about you but I do not like the fact that the very people who should uphold our rights are stretching them thinner than Fiona Apple on a rack."
"One of the basic human rights that constantly has to be defended is the right to keep and bear arms. Why did the original founders of this great American experiment toss this given, no-duh, entitlement into the Constitution? Well it wasnt so that we would be guaranteed that we could hunt squirrels and woodchucks without serving time, as great as that is. It was for the purpose of defending ourselves against perps when the cops are running a little late, and for the purpose of protecting ourselves against the government should the system go south." ... |

They also urged Congress to take appropriate action to help deal with the threat." ...

"One day after it defeated a bill that would have banned firearms in public libraries, the Virginia Senate rejected a measure to require instant background checks at gun shows, the Richmond Times-Dispatch reported Jan. 27."
"The bill's sponsor, Henry L. Marsh III, D-Richmond, complained that Virginia's resistance to closing the gun-show loophole has earned it 'a reputation as the gun-running capital of America.' Citing statistics from the National Rifle Association, Marsh estimated that 375 gun crimes are committed annually in Virginia with firearms that were purchased at gun shows." ...

A suspected prowler who fled after being shot by a homeowner called police yesterday for a ride to the hospital.
Just after 10 p.m. Tuesday, Jim Baer thought he shot a man peeping outside his Derry Township house on McFarland Road. The man pointed a rifle at him, Baer said, so he shot at the stranger twice with a .357-caliber handgun.
State police in Greensburg found blood in the snow, but it seemed the prowler got away.
Then a man called state police yesterday morning and said he was the prowler and that he needed to see a doctor. Police did not identify the caller.
The suspect was taken to Latrobe Hospital with a gunshot wound on his right leg. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
Some writers have so confounded society with government, as to leave little or no distinction between them; whereas they are not only different, but have different origins ... Society is in every state a blessing, but Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one. THOMAS PAINE |
