Not all gays are content to just lie down and play the victim, he says. "If us queer folk would just stop letting these guys keep picking on us and fight back, they would quit." That sentiment prompted Weiner to form the Houston chapter of the Pink Pistols, a gun rights group that advocates the carrying of firearms by homosexuals. Armed gays, their Web site asserts, don't get bashed.

"No wonder Dennis Hennigan, legal director of the "Brady Center to Prevent Handgun Violence," called the Illinois Appellate Court's decision "the gun industry's worst nightmare." But gun makers are not the only ones who should be worried. The same logic that condemns them could also be used against manufacturers of any product used by criminals." --Jacob Sullum

"This lynx debacle calls into question everything the Fish and Wildlife Service has done for the past eight years," said Rep. James V. Hansen (R-UT)...We came very close to impacting the economy of an entire region because of a handful of "dishonest people."

KABA NOTE: NOT "dishonest people"... a manipulative, uncaring, fanatical government agency.

--The employees involved were disiplined. Not brought up on charges of conspiracy, or fraud. Not sued for fraud. After all, as government employees, they are immune from prosecution?

(The report doesn't detail the fact that the national guardsman shot into his own buttocks with a holstered 9mm until the sixth paragraph.)

Kmart Corp. stock fell 13% on Wednesday -- the first business day of a brand new year. ... It "continues to be dogged by dirty stores, poor inventory controls, slow apparel sales and increased competition."

...and a ticked off bunch of gun owners!

(What percentage of Kmart's woes are due to gun owners speaking with their wallets? We'll never know because the media will never report such a thing. Nevertheless, it couldn't be happening to a more well-deserved company.)

Arlington -- The Police Department finished its active-shooter training exercises Thursday, almost seven months after Cpl. Joey Cushman was fatally shot by mistake during a drill.

"Really, an active shooter is tantamount to a hostage rescue... We're basically having to get our officers to a higher level," said Dept. Range Master Officer Keith Scullin. He said many officers want more tactical training because of its realism.

Canada Customs is launching a study of the dangers faced by its front-line workers that could lead to hundreds of uniformed officers at airports and border crossings being armed with guns for the first time.

The Customs and Revenue Agency is seeking an outside organization to conduct a detailed review of the hazards encountered by customs inspectors -- and the equipment they need to adequately protect themselves.

KABA NOTE: I guess Canada Border Guards' lives are more important than the citizens they serve.
