Now I really like Ashcroft. VPC's Josh Sugarman should have been swinging in the breeze a long time ago.

A former Suffolk deputy police inspector who tried to kill himself has filed a $45-million federal lawsuit, blaming the county for giving him back his service pistol, one day after stripping him of the weapon, fearing he might hurt himself or others....blaming the police department for acting "with reckless indifference to potential dangers" when they returned his gun to him without a medical evaluation.

Everybody suing somebody because they can't control themselves these days...

"Richard Rubin, Diaz's attorney, said Diaz was removing a .40-caliber Smith & Wesson from its case when it discharged accidentally, and Diaz is deeply sorry for what happened."

"He's destroyed by this whole thing," Rubin said.

The report goes on to suggest he's up on heroin charges. But in this day and age, because he's a gunowner (AK, Uzi), who is to say the dope wasn't planted.

"After a last-minute rush last weekend, about 1.8 million of the country's estimated 2.2 million gun owners met the Dec. 31 deadline, government officials said. Those who did not could face stiff penalties, including a $2,000 fine and up to five years in prison, although it is not clear whether they'll be prosecuted."

Five years in prison was the same amount of time the Nazi's first imposed when the Jews failed to register. (Later, they just shot them.)

"Anthony Lofton, 34, was living somewhere in Fort Lauderdale and selling compact discs, stuffed toys and trinkets from his van at the BP gas station and food mart...when he was approached by the two teens who demanded money..."

"During the robbery, the subjects shot the victim and fled. The victim drove away and crashed his van into a light pole four blocks away, where he died."
~~~~~
The two punks were 15 and 16. According to HCI, these are "kids." According to me, they are pinatas.
