"California has some of the strictest rules nationwide for gun shows nationwide. Guns at shows cannot be sold over the counter. Attendees can pick up purchased guns only through a licensed store after a 10-day waiting period."
"Whether there is evidence that the show floods the surrounding community with guns is immaterial to many lawmakers, who simply find such gun shows immoral."
------- Are these the same politicians who scream that you can't legislate morality in any other venue?
Considering that less than two percent of criminals get guns at gun shows, these protests are just another attempt to avoid the root causes of crime: a pathetic, government run education system, a culture that perpetuates the victim mentality and a society that shies away from personal responsibility in favor of government intervention. |

We are aware that there are Democrats who support gun rights, even some who actually mean it and do understand the Second Amendment. But even those far too few Democrats are still socialists in far too many other political leanings and thus invite fair and insightful ridicule -- especially when it's this funny.
If you're a Democrat who truly understands the Second Amendment and none of the positions described in this humorous editorial depict positions you hold, well, then, you're not really a Democrat and should probably take the World's Smallest Political Quiz to find out what your true political leanings really are. |

"It just could be that, in many parts of the South, and also in the West, the thought that the folks in the house a criminal desires to break into just might have guns on hand acts more than a little in the way of a deterrent. Police say an Albuquerque resident apparently interrupted a burglary and ended up shooting the intruder.
Sergeant Pat Apodaca says it happened last night in Albuquerque's north valley.
A man was visiting his neighbor when he thought he heard something at his home next door. He investigated and found his door unlocked.
Apodaca says the intruder opened the door and that's when a fight began.
The intruder had a pipe and struck the resident, but the neighbor intervened. That allowed the victim to get a gun he had in the house and fire two shots, hitting the intruder at least once.
Apodaca says the intruder underwent surgery at an Albuquerque hospital. |

It was a peacetime army's worst nightmare - a pickup truck loaded with hooded gunmen appearing out of the night, spraying the military camp with bullets and killing four soldiers on guard duty.
Minutes later, the raiders had broken into the weapons depot of the Royal Thai Army's engineering battalion in southern Narathiwat province, and made off with more than 100 weapons. Among the haul: M-16 assault rifles and handguns, carried away in fertiliser sacks.
It was over in 30 minutes.
