"Neesons anti-gun sympathies are hardly surprising, this column noted when his last movie, 'A Walk Among the Tombstones' was released. The arming of Jews was omitted from 'Schindlers List,' a movie he won an Oscar for, and as a UN 'goodwill ambassador' who rejects the founding principles of a culture he chose to join, he has reportedly been entertaining conversion to Islam. It only stands to reason he approves of French citizen disarmament laws." |

Paris and another mass murder in a gun-free zone. Another incident where well-armed criminals shot at people who could only scream and watch their colleagues gunned down without mercy.
Wonder if anyone in that Paris building wished he or she had a gun to shoot back. I'm not saying that a couple of concealed weapons would have stopped well-armed terrorists, but it could have bought a little time before the police got there. |

Legislation proposed last month by three members of the South Carolina legislature would require public school teachers in that state to spend three weeks each year extolling the virtues of the Second Amendment as that amendment is understood by the National Rifle Association. The bill requires all South Carolina public schools to provide instruction in the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution for at least three consecutive weeks during one grading period in each academic year. Moreover, the State Superintendent of Education shall adopt a curriculum developed or recommended by the National Rifle Association or its successor organization. |

It may be an exaggeration to say that some Michigan lawmakers want to arm abusers.
But not by much.
Michigan's Legislature has approved a law, ostensibly aimed at standardizing the way concealed-weapons permits are issued, that also eliminates a state provision barring individuals subject to a personal protection order from obtaining such permits. |

Congressman Thomas Massie (R-KY) has decided to take aim one of Americas biggest public policy failures: the Gun-Free School Zones Act (GFSZA) of 1990.
...
Earlier this week, Congressman Massie introduced H.R. 86, the Safe Students Act, a bill that would repeal the GFSZA. Originally introduced by former Congressman Ron Paul (R-TX) in 2007, this Act would restore much needed sanity to our nations gun laws by striking down this ineffective ban that has done nothing to reduce gun violence. |

The speaker lineup for next Thursdays Rally for Your Rights in Olympia has expanded to include at least four state lawmakers and representatives from gun rights and gay rights groups, and when theyre done talking, it will be up to citizens to start chatting with their individual legislators, according to a press release today.
The rally may have a bit more momentum, now that a federal lawsuit has been filed in Tacoma, challenging language in Initiative 594. The 18-page gun control measure passed by voters in November was opposed by a majority of county sheriffs and two major statewide law enforcement organizations. |

State lawmakers who have concealed-carry permits would be allowed to carry guns in most places throughout the state including into courthouses, government meetings and schools under a bill proposed in the 2015 General Assembly.
The measure, introduced by Republican Sen. Whitney Westerfield, would add legislators to a growing list of government officials who have special privileges to carry concealed weapons with few limitations. Similar exemptions already are granted to commonwealth's attorneys, county attorneys and judges. |

One of the 13 photographs submitted included Mitch's shotgun. He said it was the first gun that he had purchased himself, calling it his "go-to" gun for outdoor sport.
When Wehner an employee at WFAA-TV owned by Gannett, the parent company of USA TODAY arrived at the local Walmart store to pick up the prints, she was told the photo with the firearm would not be released.
"She was very nice, but very matter-of-fact, like she was not going to budge or give me my photo," Wehner said.
She even received a slip from the clerk that read: "MINUS ONE 5 X 7. NO WEAPONS."
The clerk at the Walmart told Wehner it was the store's "policy." Wehner was told she can't print pictures of guns. |

A bill filed in Minnesota Thursday would effectively thwart virtually all federal gun control measures on the books, past, present and future.
SF28, the Second Amendment Preservation Act, was filed by Sen. Branden Peterson. If passed, it would prohibit all state and local law enforcement from enforcing or providing material support to the enforcement of any federal act, law, order, rule or regulation that relates to a personal firearm, firearm accessory or ammunition within the limits of this state. |

Retteror expressed the need for council to pass a resolution reinforcing the U.S. and State second amendment for the right for citizens to keep and bear arms.
I still think it is meaningful and reasonable for the village of Ada to have its own resolution to reinforce the statement of the second amendment to the United States Constitution and the second amendment to the constitution of Ohio, and I think we can do that, he said. I think there are people in the world who would take that right and many of our other rights, or maybe all of our rights from us, and just because somebody is willing to give up their right doesnt mean that they should be able to give our rights up. |

Attorney General Luther Strange has joined an amicus brief filed by the State of Nebraska and 25 other States asking the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn a San Francisco ordinance which infringes upon the Second Amendment rights of gun owners who wish to protect themselves in their homes.
The brief was filed in the case of Jackson v. San Francisco in opposition to a San Francisco law requiring that guns be stored in a locked container, or with a trigger lock, at all times inside the home except when the homeowner is actually carrying the firearm. The locked-gun storage requirement ordinance was upheld by the Ninth Circuit Court. |

Oklahoma was one of several states to recently alter medical record sharing laws, which has brought forward several patient privacy issues.
The FBIs National Instant Criminal Background Check System (NICS) is a database for mental health records, meant to ensure that dangerous individuals are not able to purchase firearms. Oklahoma passed a law that goes into effect on July 1, which requires court clerks to submit the records to both the FBI and Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI), according to The Oklahoman. |

Every day in America 86 people are killed with guns. Gun violence can happen anytime, anywhere: schools, parks, offices even in our homes.
Inaction is no longer an option. In Nevada, we can help reduce gun violence with the Background Check Initiative, which would help keep guns out of dangerous hands while still respecting the Second Amendment. This sensible measure is supported by 86% of Nevadans and likely to appear on ballots in 2016. |

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
As an individual, I believe, very strongly, that handguns should be banned and that there should be stringent, effective control of other firearms. However, as a judge, I know full well that the question of whether handguns can be sold is a political one, not an issue of products liability law, and that this is a matter for the legislatures, not the courts. The unconventional theories advanced in this case (and others) are totally without merit, a misuse of products liability laws. Judge Buchmeyer, Patterson v. Gesellschaft, 1206 F.Supp. 1206, 1216 (N.D. Tex. 1985) |
