The suspect's gun, a 9mm Glock 17, had been stolen from police in 2013, Commissioner Richard Ross said.

Submitters note: Hey Obama. This is how criminals and terrorists get guns. Your newest restrictions won't save one life. Of course, all restrictions are only meant to inconvenience law abiding citizens.

The defense has said McCoy came to drop off their children July 12, 2014, at the home where his estranged wife lived with Lakes. McCoy began arguing with his wife, the two men exchanged words and a fight ensued, according to Lombardo.

Moments later, the defense claims McCoy grabbed a knife and told Lakes he would kill him.

Lakes went outside, McCoy followed him still holding the knife and started punching Lakes.

Lakes told detectives he feared for his life so he got his gun out of the back of his car and shot McCoy dead.

Smart Guns failed in California in March 2014 and in Maryland in May 2014, yet President Obamas executive gun control contained an order directing the DOD, DOJ, and Homeland Security to explore ways to further the use of smart guns.

The smart gun in California and Maryland was the Armatix iP1, which would only fire if in close proximity to a watch that the person shooting the gun was supposed to wear. As Breitbart News previously reported, the iP1 only came in one caliber.22 lrand it cost approximately $1,800, which is about $1,325 more than a traditional semiautomatic Glock handgun in 9mm or a Smith & Wessson M&P Shield in .40 caliber.

Representative Sonny Borelli believes his measure would help people defend themselves in the event of a mass shooting.

In the wake of President Obama's efforts to take on gun violence, the head of the group Open Carry Texas told KERA News that the president "wants to make sure that more kids die by refusing to allow us to carry on the schools to protect our own kids."

In a wide-ranging interview, C.J. Grisham talked about the president's proposal, the arrival of open carry in Texas and campus carry, which allows license-holders to carry concealed weapons on public university campuses starting in August.

Even as I continue to take every action possible as president, I will also take every action I can as a citizen. I will not campaign for, vote for or support any candidate, even in my own party, who does not support common-sense gun reform. And if the 90 percent of Americans who do support common-sense gun reforms join me, we will elect the leadership we deserve.

OK: Strange logic of disarming law-abiding citizens

Liberal reasoning is so astounding. How can they figure that disarming the people who honor the rules will make us safer from the people who don't abide by the rules? Oklahoma City Community College President Jerry Steward noted that in the past year there have been 23 shootings on school campuses according to the Dec. 4, 2015, issue of Pioneer, the campus paper. So, 23 times bad guys carried guns into gun-free zones ignoring rules, laws and posted No Gun stickers. In some of these incidents, the law-abiding students were sitting ducks. They were unarmed because that was the law! How can liberals figure that leaving only the unruly armed will make law-abiding students safer?

The Second Amendment Foundation has filed a federal lawsuit against the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS) on behalf of two state residents whose civil rights have been deprived under color of law because agency rules prohibit them from acting as foster parents while legally possessing functional firearms for personal protection.

At issue are the rights of Stephen and Krista Pursley. They have been foster parents to 34 children in Oklahoma, providing these youngsters with a stable environment. However, OKDHS completely prohibits foster and adoptive parentsfrom the possession of firearms for the purpose of self-Defense, the lawsuit alleges.

If youre a proud owner of a Ruger Mini-14, then please read on because I have some wonderful news to share with you.

Some time ago, I received an email from a reader encouraging me to give the very best Mini-14 magazine in the world a try. Curious, I decided to pit this untried cartridge shuffler against the industry standard, Rugers own excellent sheet steel factory magazine. After several months of intensive testing, Im pleased to announce that this hybrid polymer bullet box has proven itself to be the Rugers equal in all but one distinct category.

After Barack Obama announced such steps as tightening enforcement of federal regulations on gun sales, Donald Trump lamented, "He's taking chunks and chunks out of the Second Amendment." Ted Cruz said the measures are "unconstitutional."

They overlook two critical facts. The first is that if Obama adopts any policy that abridges the right to keep and bear arms, the Supreme Court will deep-six it. The second is that almost none of what he is doing offends the Second Amendment.

Demand for pepper spray and blank-firing guns has surged in Germany, particularly after militant attacks in Paris in November and assaults on women in Cologne on New Year's Eve.

Gun dealers and vendors of deterrent devices such as sprays and alarms say sales have taken off since August, when Chancellor Angela Merkel opened Germany's borders to people fleeing war and poverty in the Middle East and Africa.

Good News for the Gun Lobby

That criticism reflects a strategic calculation: Democrats are increasingly convinced that gun control may not be so politically toxic after all. At least some are willing to bet that the NRA is not the threat they once believed. But a push for tightening regulations on firearms has the potential to make the gun lobby even stronger.

When Americans fear the government may be on the verge of confiscating guns, they rush to buy more. The presidents calls for gun control also create an opening for the gun lobby to make highly-charged appeals to their members. Gun owners may feel motivated to write checks to gun rights organizations if they worry that their Second Amendment rights are threatened.

A bill introduced in the Kentucky House would make it the express duty of the state legislature to prevent implementation of unconstitutional federal gun laws. Passage of the legislation would represent a small first step toward protecting the right to keep and bear arms in the Commonwealth.

A coalition of six Republican legislators filed House Bill 182 (HB182) on Jan. 6. The legislation declares that all federal acts, rules, regulations, laws and orders relating to firearms that violate the Constitution of the United States and the Amendments thereto are invalid, null, void, not recognized, and of no effect in Kentucky. The bill goes on to direct the state legislature to take all measure necessary to block enforcement of such laws.

Ambushed by a murderous madman as he sat alone in his patrol car, Philadelphia Police Officer Jesse Hartnett survived a 13-shot onslaught only by the grace of God.

The shooter, 30-year-old Edward Archer, held a stolen 9 mm handgun with his arm extended and pulled the trigger time after time after time. Miraculously, just three bullets hit Hartnett, who not only fired back but managed to give foot chase.

In a fresh but long shot assertion of states rights, Gov. Greg Abbott on Friday called for a convention of U.S. states to pass nine new amendments to the U.S. Constitution, measures meant to limit the powers of the federal government.

The amendments would require a balanced U.S. budget and prohibit Congress from regulating any activity that occurs wholly within one state, a category some conservatives say includes gun use and marriage. The amendments would also allow states to override federal laws or U.S. Supreme Court decisions if two-thirds of them disagreed and require a seven-justice supermajority for U.S. Supreme Court decisions that invalidate any law passed by state or federal legislators.

Lloyd Nichols, owner of the Diner on South Broadway Avenue, doesnt like the position Texas new open carry law has put him and other business owners in, having to take sides on the Second Amendment.

It's bad for business, the a former U.S. Marine and a Second Amendment advocate said.

Its just not good for business anytime you are put in this type of position, he said. Youre going to upset somebody no matter what. The vast majority of people are going to continue to carry concealed, but you have to wonder about a person who feels like carrying a gun on their hip. And there are customers who wont want to be around that situation while they're enjoying a meal.

Last nights CNN Town Hall on Guns in America with Barack Obama facing critics of his gun control agenda, including the wife of American hero Chris Kyle, underscored the deep philosophical divide between a president who wants tougher gun regulation, and Second Amendment proponents who repeatedly told him that his measures wont work because they already havent worked.

Philadelphia Police Commissioner Richard Ross acknowledged today that the handgun used in what is being variously described as an attempted assassination of a Philly cop was a stolen police sidearm, and the shooting appears to have been done in the name of Islam, according to Fox News.

According to USA Today, freshman Mayor Jim Kenney, a Democrat who has been in office about a week, played down the Islam connection. He also dished out gun control rhetoric, asserting, There are just too many guns on the streets and I think our national government needs to do something about that.

I am very familiar with people who are on the ground in Oregon, and I can tell you that at least two of the men involved in the armed takeover of the federal facility near Burns were also agitators and provocateurs at Bundy Ranch. Fortunately, at Bundyville, those men were plainly instructed to leave the area before they were able to inflict any significant damage. Although, I can tell you that it was only due to the cool heads and calm spirits of the good men at Bundy Ranch that kept those agitators from potential violence and resultant loss of life. Unfortunately, those same men are now in Oregon. If these men are not government provocateurs, they are certainly helping the government with a lot of free work.

On January 7, Baltimore Sun deputy editorial page editor Tricia Bishop penned a column in which she explained that licensed gun owners scare her more than gun-toting criminals.

Her central justification for this position is that she lives in a part of Baltimore where she cant be reached by the poor blacks who are shooting one another in other parts of town, but she occasionally hears stories about law-abiding citizens who wear guns on their hips for self-defense while they are in their own yards. The justification is not congruent, but its the one Bishop provided.

Herring is asking the wrong question. The standard should not be whether someone who Virginia legislators would have kept off their list might be able to get a permit somewhere else and use it in the commonwealth. Rather, the measure should be whether there is a serious risk that someone with an out-of-state permit will misuse a weapon in Virginia. The attorney general offered no evidence for the second because none exists. In none of these 25 states has there been a spate of shootings by people misusing concealed weapons. Its a non-problem.

These are the times that try mens souls was written by Thomas Paine, patriot and United States Founding Father, in his book The American Crisis in 1776.

Now some 240 years later, being faced with menacing terrorist activities here at home and abroad, we can certainly identify with his words. We are even more aware now of the necessity for being prepared just in case to defend our way of life and our very lives.

There are things we can do now to be prepared for our own personal protection when we carry concealed.
