An appeal of the city's lawsuit against gun makers is unlikely after the U.S. Supreme Court refused Tuesday to be drawn into a dispute over whether cities can sue gun manufacturers for crime costs. Mayor Joseph Ganim weighed an appeal of a state Supreme Court ruling that Bridgeport did not suffer such direct losses from gun violence that it could pursue its case.

The Supreme Court refused Tuesday to be drawn into a dispute over whether cities can sue gun manufacturers over crime costs, protecting weapon makers from a round of government lawsuits in Louisiana. The case was blocked by the Louisiana Legislature, which passed a law retroactively banning those types of suits. Another 26 states have passed similar laws. The Supreme Court declined without comment to review a Louisiana Supreme Court ruling that upheld that state's prohibition. The refusal likely chills cities' efforts to sue gun makers despite state bans.

KABA NOTE: At the bottom of this fellow's STORY is an email address to reach him -- but know before you write that his history is one of being a committed rights infringer.

"The launcher was a homemade device -- made as part of an assignment for an engineering class, the student said -- using PVC piping. Officer R. Chipps said potato balls, golf balls or wadded up pieces of newspaper can be stuffed into the smaller end. Then an accelerant, such as hair spray, is sprayed into the wider end, and an ignition source is introduced further into the pipe via a hole or an installed switch."

No arrests made, potato gun surrendered by citizen.

Military investigators confiscated four inoperable rocket-launcher tubes from an arms dealer in Aurora last week and destroyed them. Because the tubes cannot be fired and cannot be reloaded to be fired, they are not classified as weapons or destructive devices, ATF officials said. The military is treating the tubes as "stolen government property".

Dan King accused the ATF of intercepting the packages, opening them and confiscating them. King has not been charged.

The U.S. must immediately change its laws regarding the deportation of aliens involved in terrorism or our intelligence gathering capabilities could be compromised, and the lives of our undercover agents placed at risk, according to Sen. Bob Smith (R-NH). Critics say no changes are needed.

Congress established the "Alien Terrorist Removal Court" in 1996 to deal specifically with immigrants accused of terrorist activities. But Smith says the court has never been used.

Many Republican lawmakers oppose including in the aviation security bill items such as additional unemployment benefits for airline workers or security measures for Amtrak, according to Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle (D-SC). He believes most Republicans oppose federalization of airport security screeners, as well.

He believes Democrats would be willing to consider a compromise on airport security legislation, "as long as federalization (of screeners) is major component," of any proposal.

"The concept of terror can only exist in the minds of people whose natural rights to defend themselves have been taken away. "Terrorists" don't actually cause terror to occur. It occurs when the government says you can't defend yourself. Only after this fundamental sapient right to defend yourself is taken away, can other unscrupulous men "terrorize" you." ~ Tristan Petersen

A California gun group launched a billboard campaign Monday touting firearm ownership as a response to last month's terrorist attacks.

The billboards, with the message "Society is safer when criminals don't know who's armed," is similar to a 1995 campaign. However, the California Rifle and Pistol Association said this year's campaign is particularly timely in light of the terrorist attacks and the current debate over arming flight crews to thwart hijackers.

Gun Control Needed for Congress and the CIA

Since our sons and daughters blood is now being spent (for the 3rd time in a decade) in a war where all sides have been armed and trained WITH OUR TAX MONIES; perhaps it's time for gun control for Congress and the CIA.

If your familiar with Anthony Sutton's writings concerning the initial Wall St. funding of (as well as perpetuated funding of) the Bolshevik Revolution, the excuse of "Cold War realities" takes on a different color.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
Today the taxing power, rather than chattel slavery, is the instrument by which the parasitical element of the population subsists. And that element, which includes politicians, panics at the slightest reduction in the state's power to plunder. Once you start liberating taxpayers, even a little tiny bit, nobody knows where it may end. Joseph Sobran
