I have personally spent far more time than I should have researching different rifle and handgun rests. I can say I've seen them all, well, perhaps not all of them but a great deal. During my travels through the rest world, I ran into Ransom Rest International. Who are they you ask? While you may not have heard the name, I'll bet you've seen their rests. Mythbusters, forged in fire, and others use their pistol stand. Look close, you will see Ransom Rest on the side.

We are over a hundred times more likely to use a gun in self-defense than to be murdered by a criminal with a gun. Self-defense could make our cities safe again.. if the news media would tell the truth.

When someone cites The Second Amendment we are supposed to bow our heads in some sort of divine reverence. When someone says we dont want to infringe on the rights of law-abiding citizens we are supposed to recognize their undefined minority rights over our right to not be killed by guns in school, at the theater or just going about our daily lives. The Second Amendment is specific about the rights it is talking about. It isnt hunting.

We should pass a federal law which prohibits anyone to own a gun unless they can demonstrate a need based upon self-defense.

Did Democrat Beto O'Rourke's statements about taking away Americans' assault rifles go too far for Arizona voters?

Responses varied from locals who attended O'Rourke's stump speech Oct. 6 at The Churchill in downtown Phoenix. One woman, who's part of a controversial anti-illegal immigration group in Litchfield Park, told O'Rourke during the event to get his "hands off our guns." Her comment was intended to rile up O'Rourke and his supporters.

And Bush said this obsession with how the gun looks is most obvious when comparing the AR-15 to another gun: the Mini-14. Thats also a semi-automatic rifle, but it has a wood frame. It looks more like your grandpas hunting rifle than something SEAL Team 6 might carry.

They operate the exact same way, Bush said. More often than not, they shoot the same round, too, with the same capacity. One is just scary looking.

Tanner Hirschfeld, a fourth-year student at the university established by founding father Thomas Jefferson, said in an email he was disappointed when Senior U.S. District Judge Glen E. Conrad ruled last week that Hirschfelds Second Amendment rights werent violated by criminal statutes making it illegal for anyone under the age of 21 to purchase a handgun.

While the prospective buyers offer policy disagreements with Congresss conclusions and reasoning, thats not for the courts to decide, Conrad wrote in an opinion published Friday, adding that Congress had a rational basis for regulating adults over 21 different from adults under 21.

Two hundred and ninety-eight felons died in 2018 during the commission of a felony when armed private citizens shot the attackers, according to the FBIs latest release from its Uniform Crime Reporting Program. The statistical study does not inventory the more common encounters when a civilians presentation, declaration or firing of a self-defense firearm was effective at stopping other perpetrators.

The latest release also indicates an overall decline in crime rate. There were an estimated 368.9 violent crimes per 100,000 inhabitants in 2018, a rate that fell 3.9 percent when compared with the 2017 estimated violent crime rate and dropped 14.6 percent from the 2009 estimate, according to the report.

Self-preservation is a citizens natural right

This right of self-preservation was described by John Locke in his 1690 Second Treatise on Government, from which the Framers drew heavily. Locke argues that this right allows men to live freely without interference by anything or anyone, including government.

Its important to understand this point. Many of the Framers were students of Lockes philosophical thinking and others of the time. It is ingrained into the very fabric of the Bill of Rights.

It even influenced Alexander Hamilton when he wrote in Federalist No. 28 that, If the representatives of the people betray their constituents, there is then no recourse left but in the exertion of that natural right of self-defense which is paramount to all forms of government.

Dick's Sporting Goods has destroyed $5 million of the chain's gun inventory, its CEO said.

After finding out that Dick's had sold the Parkland shooter a shotgun, CEO Edward Stack decided last year the company would no longer sell firearm to anyone under 21. Dick's announced it would destroy its inventory of weapons, rather than allow them to be sold by another retailer.

Since then, about $5 million of the chain's gun inventory has been turned into scrap metal, Stack said in an interview with CBS.

Emboldened by a string of recent favorable federal court rulings, gun rights advocates now aim to overturn Californias longstanding open-carry laws.

Two men from rural Northern California counties say theyve been denied open-carry permits by local authorities and cant even begin to start the application process because the state doesnt give sheriffs the necessary forms. They believe Californias laws, which require applicants to demonstrate good cause, amount to a de facto ban and note that the state hasnt issued an open-carry license since the law went into effect in 2012.

Giffords, a group launched by former congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords after the Arizona Democrat survived an assassination attempt in 2011, will roll out three online advertisements on Wednesday.

Many students carry pepper spray regardless of the rule, as it is better to have it and get a fine than not have it and need it for an emergency. The rule against mace should be updated for safety purposes, especially with the multiple sexual offenses reported recently.

Also, it would not hurt for Doane to make an optional self-defense course available to students. Even if a student is never attacked, there is no disadvantage to having self-defense knowledge.

Derrick Hughes and his team will do whatever it takes to sell trucks and cars during the slow months of deer hunting season, so they're giving away guns along with Bibles and flags at their Ford dealership in tiny Honea Path, South Carolina.

"It's crazy," Hughes told the Detroit Free Press on Wednesday. "Weve had multiple people take advantage of the promotion. You don't need to buy a $50,000 truck. It's for anything on our lot, used or new. We've sold Ecosport, Escape, new F-150s, used F-250s, a couple Dodge trucks."

FL: Analysis: Mounting pre-filed gun bills are more 2020 campaign statements than actionable legislation

Florida could become the 16th state to adopt constitutional carry, meaning no permit would be required to publicly carry a firearm, or lawmakers could impose more restrictions on concealed and open carry.

It could go either way during Floridas 2020 legislative session, which begins Jan. 14. More likely, however, it goes neither way and everything stays the same.

Florida gun rights advocates and gun control proponents are squaring off in a battle of pre-filed bills that are unlikely to gain collaborative traction during the upcoming legislative session but will likely serve as November 2020 campaign issues.
