A Democratic state lawmaker is again attempting to eliminate Floridas controversial stand your ground defense. Sen. Shevrin Jones filed legislation that would alter the self-defense landscape in Florida. The bill targets an oft-criticized state law that came under the national spotlight before and after the failed prosecution of George Zimmerman, who in 2012 fatally shot Trayvon Martin, an unarmed Black teenager.

Elvis Presley sat atop rock and rolls throne as unofficial King for decades, although he was more proficient at handling a firearm than a royal scepter. He owned guns throughout most of his life and, while serving in the U.S. Army, earned sharpshooter badges for his skill behind an M1 rifle and M1911. He collected firearms and kept one by his side for self-defense, although theres little doubt the highly embellished Smith & Wesson Model 53 revolver he ownedwhich went for $199,750 during a Rock Island Auction sale on Aug. 26was not his first choice for carry. |

My first sixgun replica was purchased in September, 1970. It was an Uberti Cattleman .357 Magnum and was the first SAA copy Id encountered. Over the years it has been followed by a host of Italian-made revolvers including many more SAAs, facsimiles of Remington Models 1875 and 1890, several versions of Schofield .45s and others I cant think of offhand. However, only one has stuck now for over 25 years Ubertis 3rd Model .44 Russian top-break revolver.

Recent instances of Vermont store-goers detaining and even assaulting would-be thieves reveal growing societal tensions seeded by progressive policies. Vermonts law enforcement services are anemic due to anti-police rhetoric, racialization of courts, and lax prosecutorial policies. Vermont is not enforcing basic criminal laws, as gang-related violence and property crimes transform communities, drug overdoses skyrocket, and businesses are compromised. Citizens are tired of being victimized by government failure: many are taking matters into their own hands. |

It has long been said that hard cases make bad law, and nowhere could this be truer for the Second Amendment than in U.S. v. Rahimi. The issue at hand is the constitutionality of federal law 18 U.S.C. Section 922(g)(8), which disarms those Americans who have a domestic violence restraining order entered against them, even when they have never been found to be physically dangerous.

If you quickly glance at 38 Special and 357 Magnum ammo, you might not notice any differences and think they were the same round. Although they are almost identical in their case dimensions, the 38 Special and 357 Magnum are extremely different.

OWINGS MILLS: Clad in a pink T-shirt that reads A girl and a gun, firearms instructor Charneta Samms shows a group of women how to get a proper grip on a pistol.
Around them, shots ring out and casings pile on the floor at a shooting range near the eastern US city of Baltimore, where more and more of the visitors are women.
Unfortunately, the worlds getting a little bit crazy, said Samms, 49, who runs the local branch of A Girl & A Gun, a women-only gun club. And so I think its important for women to be able to defend themselves, she said.
Like Samms and her trainees, a growing number of women are choosing to own guns, taking an increasingly prominent role in the popular American pursuit.
