Pistol caliber carbines have always been a guilty pleasure of mine. I say guilty, because the pragmatist in me fully understands they are ballistically outclassed by traditional rifle-caliber carbines. Even still, the soft-shooting nature and interchangeability of ammunition between them and my handguns further fuels my desire to own them. |

A worker shot and killed an alleged would-be robber Monday at the "Hip Hop Shop" on Detroit's west side, police said. The Hip Hop Shop is a place made famous by Detroit rapper Eminem. Police said the shooting appeared to be a case of a worker fighting back against a robber.
Detroit police have had 7 Mile Road shut down at Greenfield Road for most of the evening while they investigate the incident. They said a 26-year-old man went into the Hip Hop Shop and the worker came out and started firing his weapon.
"If there's an attempted robbery, a citizen has the right to defend himself," Officer Mark Thornton said.
The worker has been taken downtown for questioning.

The dominant fact emerging this year is that whatever faith in government voters once had has been pretty well destroyed both by self-serving politicians willing to disingenuously promise anything for their votes and the failure of government at all levels to deliver on those promises. Establishment politicos of both partys couldnt believe the appeal of the attacks leveled on them by Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders and Republican Donald Trump during the primary season and were dumbfounded at how well their attacks played with voters in both parties. |

Congressman Chris Collins (NY-27) recently announced he has earned an A+ rating and the full support of the National Rifle Association (NRA), the nation's premier firearms education organization. The unconstitutional regulations passed in Washington and Albany have stripped Western New York gun owners of their Second Amendment rights and freedoms," Collins said. "In Washington, I have been proud to advocate on behalf of the law-abiding gun owners whose constitutional rights are constantly under attack by President Obama and Governor Cuomo. I am honored to receive an A+ rating and the full support of the NRA, and will continue to fight for our Second Amendment rights." |

The law of averages predicts that at some time in the future, perhaps as soon as 2017, the Democratic Party will once again control the White House and majorities in both houses of Congress. When that happens, the next Democratic president -- be it Hillary Clinton or someone else -- will sign into law a sweeping, foreign-style gun ban.

The citizen sponsor of Washington state ballot Initiative 1491 believes her son and daughter would still be alive if "extreme-risk protection orders" had been legal two years ago. When Marilyn Balcerak's mentally ill son became increasingly violent and potentially suicidal, she repeatedly asked the police how she could keep guns out of his hands. She was told she could get a restraining order or wait until he committed a felony, which would make it illegal to buy a firearm. |
