"Gun control is on the back burner in Congress... and that is good news."
"But, as has often been said, in order to fully understand the good news, it helps to understand the bad news first. The 'bad news' was this: in early September, gun control was on the 'fast track' in the House."
"Pressure was mounting to help protect gun makers against frivolous lawsuits, but the prevailing attitude was that they should be helped at any cost... even if it meant swallowing new gun control regulations for the average gun owner."
"While the Senate passed S. 397 with two gun control provisions, the House bill (H.R. 800) remained free and clear of any gun control. ..." ... |

Honolulu police would not release any information on the robbery.

A 52-year-old Wyncote man was charged yesterday with trying to board a Sept. 2 Southwest Airlines flight from Philadelphia while carrying two pistols, a revolver and three magazines of ammunition.
An attorney for Larry Bland, who had intended to fly to Chicago, said the man never intended to carry the weapons aboard an airplane.
"He picked up a bag that he travels with and forgot they were in there," said Fincourt Shelton, a Darby Borough lawyer.
Bland was charged in an information, which usually means he plans to plead guilty. If he pleads guilty, he is expected to receive probation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Arlene D. Fisk declined to comment. -------
