How can you blame her?
When Tatiana Duva-Rodriguez shot at a fleeing shoplifter's tires in a Home Depot parking lot last week, she was only doing what she'd been told, time and again, from people like National Rifle Association chief Wayne LaPierre to presidential candidate Ben Carson: The only thing that can stop a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun.
The instructions CPL holders should receive in those classes contradict the vigilante ethos pushed by LaPierre, Carson and others, who have, in the wake of repeated school shootings, argue that if only more people were armed, the shooters could have been stopped.

Almost three out of four Floridians, according to a recent poll, dont want guns on our state college and university campus. One hundred percent of state college and university presidents dont want them there. Same goes for the vast majority of faculty members and student government associations. Police chiefs and sheriffs associations dont want them on campus either. |

Obama promised to deliver executive orders to decrease gun violence. Guess what wasnt in any of it? Taking away your guns.
Obama is not coming to take your guns. Theres been this narrative for seven years that hes coming for them, yet you still have your guns. If hes coming for your guns, he better get busy because hes running out of time. In fact, he hasnt even talked about taking away guns.

The grand illusion of zealots for laws preventing ordinary, law-abiding people from having guns is that "gun control" laws actually control guns. In a country with many millions of guns, not all of them registered, this is a fantasy and a farce.
Why anyone would think that criminals who disobey other laws, including laws against murder, would obey gun control laws is a mystery. A disarmed population makes crime a safer occupation and street violence a safer sport.
Even in places where law-abiding citizens are allowed to own guns, they are seldom allowed to carry concealed weapons even though concealed weapons protect not only those who carry them, but also protect those who do not, |

As the country closes in on a federal election, the stakes are even higher with Democrats from the White House down calling for tighter regulation and the Republicans standing firmly behind the Second Amendment.
While politicians and the media debate about registration, waiting periods, magazine capacities and assault weapon bans, the new, engineering-driven reality has been completely ignored.

QUOTES
TO REMEMBER |
As an individual, I believe, very strongly, that handguns should be banned and that there should be stringent, effective control of other firearms. However, as a judge, I know full well that the question of whether handguns can be sold is a political one, not an issue of products liability law, and that this is a matter for the legislatures, not the courts. The unconventional theories advanced in this case (and others) are totally without merit, a misuse of products liability laws. Judge Buchmeyer, Patterson v. Gesellschaft, 1206 F.Supp. 1206, 1216 (N.D. Tex. 1985) |
