"Another lawsuit has been launched by officials with the Second Amendment Foundation over gun rights, which officials have been watching closely since the group's huge Supreme Court decision affirming the idea that self-protection applies to all people in America."

"The newest lawsuit was filed on behalf of a Georgia resident who is an honorably discharged veteran from the Vietnam war, and it names as defendants Attorney General Eric Holder and the Federal Bureau of Investigation." ...

"The question at hand is whether a state can deprive an individual of the right to possess a weapon over a misdemeanor." ...

"Most recently, we took a look at the claims of '80%' of Mexican 'crime guns' coming from the U.S. ... Since then, correspondent Hank Martin kindly pointed me to some very valuable information that could shed some light on the reason such a low percentage of the guns are traced, and also explain the amount of firepower the drug traffickers have on hand."

"The article is from late March of last year, in The Narcosphere (part of Narco News, an online journal about the 'War on Drugs,' and the erosion of freedom that is part and parcel of that 'war'), and journalist Bill Conroy brings up some very interesting points in 'Legal U.S. Arms Exports May Be Source of Narco Syndicates Rising Firepower.'" ...

"Thursday's headlines on the Seattle Times' and on-line Seattle Post-Intelligencer's websites pretty much say it all: a preliminary finding by a Seattle Police Department Firearms Review Board ... has found that the Aug. 30 fatal shooting of a woodcarver by a Seattle police officer was not justified. ..."

"One must weigh for a moment the value of that news because John T. Williams, the 50-year-old woodcarver ... is still dead. It will give police critics cause to say 'We told you so,' and others will correctly remind them that this process is not over just yet. There must still be a formal inquest and it will be up to the King County Prosecutors office to determine whether to file charges ..." ...

"The State Department has banned the return of M-1 Garand's and M-1 Carbines from Korea. These guns were sold (given?) to Korea years ago to provide them with infantry weapons, as we upgraded our infantry arsenal with the M-14 and M-16."

"Now, Korea is seeking to sell these to U.S. collectors and shooters, to provide funding for upgrading their arsenals. But the State Department is attempting to block the return of these war heroes' weapons to their homeland." ...

"This past Friday, I was lucky enough to exercise my right to bear arms with URs College Republicans as we celebrated our own club holiday, Second Amendment Appreciation Day."

"While firing various firearms at pumpkins and paper targets with close friends brought me great joy, the purpose and meaning of the Second Amendment goes beyond shooting fruit at a gun range."

"At the time of its ratification, the framers of the Constitution reasoned that protecting the right to bear arms and the right to have a civilian militia were essential to the defense of the nation." ...

"The Eddie Eagle GunSafe Program, NRAs groundbreaking gun accident prevention course for children, has surpassed yet another milestone by reaching its 24 millionth child."

"Created in 1988 by past NRA President Marion P. Hammer, in consultation with elementary school teachers, law enforcement officers, and child psychologists, the program provides pre-K through the third grade children with simple, effective rules to follow should they encounter a firearm in an unsupervised setting: 'If you see a gun: STOP! Don't Touch. Leave the Area. Tell an Adult.'"

"Why are there gun laws?"

"The Second Amendment states ... 'A well-regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.'"

"When only cops have guns, it's called a 'police state.' Think Nazi Germany or Communist Russia. Thomas Jefferson said, 'No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for the people to retain the right to keep and bear arms is, as a last resort, to protect themselves against tyranny in government.'"

"Therefore, what I deduce from the Second Amendment and what Thomas Jefferson has said is that any law regarding guns or gun control is unconstitutional. ..." ...

"I practice Home Carry. I began packing a pistol on my person after the rabbi pointed out that Id never have enough time to get a firearm out of my safe in time to cope with a home invasion. For some of you, thats akin to saying Id never have time to get under a kevlar shield in time to protect myself from a meteor strike. But the line between having a gun in the house and wearing one in the house is pretty thin, separated more by personal/political comfort levels than practical considerations. When the rabbi recommended carrying extra ammo as well, I balked. My Springfield XD-M holds 18 rounds. Thats a lot of counter-insurgency. That said . . ." ...

Maybe . . . this? The main man over at gripus.com is working on a new holster design for his Ruger LCP. FULL TEXT BELOW:

Democratic gubernatorial candidate Tom Barrett said he won't support legalizing concealed weapons in Wisconsin unless the law enforcement community changes its position and gets behind the idea.

Barrett was asked about the issue at a campaign stop on Thursday.

His Republican opponent Scott Walker supports legalizing the carrying of concealed weapons and advocated for it when he was a member of the state Assembly.

Barrett said legalizing concealed weapons is a public safety issue and not about Second Amendment rights.

He said anything he would support would have to be limited in scope and not allow concealed weapons in places like shopping malls and little league games.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
War is an ugly thing but not the ugliest of things; the decayed and degraded state of moral and patriotic feelings which thinks that nothing is worth war is much worse. A man who has nothing for which he is willing to fight, nothing which is more important than his own personal safety, is a miserable creature and has no chance of being free unless made and kept so by the exertions of better men than himself. John Stuart Mills
