State legislators denied the ordinary person the right to bear arms in New York. That decision was upheld in state and lower courts. Now, the US Supreme court will decide if the second amendment is a real right or only a forgettable footnote in the bill of rights.

A man who was shot in the arm by Kyle Rittenhouse during a protest last year against police brutality in Wisconsin has filed a federal lawsuit alleging police enabled the violence by allowing an armed militia to have free run of the streets during the demonstration.

Rittenhouse shot Joseph Rosenbaum, Anthony Huber and Gaige Grosskreutz with an AR-style semiautomatic rifle during the protest in Kenosha on Aug. 25, 2020, after an officer shot Jacob Blake two days earlier. Rosenbaum and Huber died. Grosskreutz was wounded in the arm but survived.

Yesterday, the Senate Committee on Judiciary and Public Safety held hearings for Senate Bill 584, to improve the ability of law-abiding citizens to defend themselves and their loved ones while worshipping; and Senate Bill 570, to protect Second Amendment rights from frivolous lawsuits. They did not take action on these bills at the time. Your NRA will keep you updated as the bills progress in the legislative process.

Starting next year, gun shows that used to occupy the OC Fair & Event Center several weekends a year will no longer be on the calendar.

State Sen. Dave Mins bill to ban gun shows on the state-owned fairgrounds property in Costa Mesa was recently signed into law by Gov. Gavin Newsom, and it takes effect Jan. 1.

Before that happens, there could still be one more gun show next month: fairgrounds officials have said Crossroads of the West which has been holding events at the OC fairgrounds since 1996 already had a possible November show on the booking calendar, although the fairs Board of Directors has not yet approved a contract for the event.

The proliferation of homemade ghost guns has skyrocketed in Los Angeles, contributing to more than 100 violent crimes this year, the Los Angeles Police Department said in a report released Friday.

Detectives have linked the untraceable weapons to 24 killings, eight attempted homicides and dozens of assaults and armed robberies since January, according to the report.

And police expect the problem to get worse, the report said.

VA: Wiley will protect the Second Amendment

The Second Amendment is under assault in Virginia by the Democrat majority in the House of Delegates.

We dont need to add to that problem. While the local Democrat nominee claims to be a supporter of our constitutional rights, she also says she supports her partys gun control agenda, claiming it is not intrusive.

Laws making it harder for law-abiding citizens to purchase or own a firearm while making it harder to hold and prosecute those who commit violent crimes, are not sane strategies for making our communities safe.

Bill Wiley is part of the line of defense against these reckless policies. If your Second Amendment rights are important to you and they should be I ask you to join me in reelecting Bill Wiley.

As NRA-ILA argues, New York law infringes on the Second Amendment by prohibiting the average law-abiding citizen from exercising their constitutional right of self-defense. By requiring law-abiding citizens to first convince government officials that they have a good cause to carry a firearm that distinguishes them from the general community, New Yorks licensing scheme treats lawful Americans like felons and grants government officials virtually unbridled discretion to grant or withhold what the Constitution presumptively guarantees to all.

Virginia gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe (D) took a page from the current Biden administration and decided to label violent crimewhich he also mislabels as gun violenceas a public-health crisis.

McAuliffe, who served as the governor of Virginia from 2014 to 2018, states on his campaign website that he will treat gun violence as the public health crisis it is, and that he intends to create an Office of Gun Violence Prevention. Not to stop there, McAuliffe also mentions he has never been afraid to stand up to the NRA, and that wont change now.

I also fully support the Second Amendment and a persons right to purchase, possess and safely use firearms. I carry a weapon daily, both on and off duty, and I was responsibly exercising my Second Amendment rights long before I became a law enforcement officer.  I do not believe in blanket laws seeking to disarm or restrict law-abiding citizens from exercising their Second Amendment rights. But as a community caretaker, I also know from hard experience that violent criminals must not have easy access to firearms. I also believe that we have an obligation to assist members of our community who are in crisis or who may attempt to use a firearm to harm themselves or others.

Top Shot Chris Cheng and RECOIL Magazine are teaming up once again, this time to raise money for second amendment advocacy. The team created controversy earlier this year when Cheng appeared on the cover of RECOIL magazine with his rainbow flag tee shirt. The message being conveyed was 2A FOR ALL, meaning that gun rights apply to every American no matter the sexuality or ethnic heritage.

The unveiling of the magazine cover was met by a flurry of social media backlash. Now that controversial art cover featuring Top Shot Chris Cheng will be auctioned off as NFT digital art. This first ever of its kind for the firearms space, the NFT digital art auction takes place Tuesday, October 19th through Sunday, October 24.

The most important question facing the city may not be who wins this brawl between the city and the FOP, but whether Chicago residents will have to increasingly defend themselves amid the citys spike in violence.

This month alone, according to the popular website HeyJackass.com, as of Friday 23 people had been fatally shot in Chicago so far this month. Another 161 had been wounded by gunfire.

Its only mid-October and already the Transportation Security Administration has detected a record number of firearms in a year.

Houston's Bush Intercontinental Airport has been ranked third among airports where the most firearms have been found this year. And with nearly three months left and the holiday season right around the corner, TSA is reminding folks to be prepared before they get to the airport.

It has been an increasing number..." said Transportation Security Officer Justin Angell.

State Sen. Jacqueline Collins joined Cook County Sheriff Tom Dart on Thursday to announce a new bill aimed at getting ghost guns from the streets.

A ghost gun is a homemade firearm without a serial number, which makes it difficult to trace. People can buy kits to make such guns without a background check. Some include no metal parts, thus they dont trigger metal detectors. They can be ordered online using no more than a shipping address and payment information. Some can even be made with 3-D printers.

There will also be a limited number of biometric gun safes given away to those with a valid gun permit who are looking for a safer way to store their weapon.

My dad is safe and alive. But ten people were shot and killed with a Ruger AR-556 while buying groceries that day. Dad was spared, but not because the gun was outlawed: the alleged shooter Ahmad Al Aliwi Al-Issa bought his semi-automatic rifle legally, six days before the shooting.

Background checks didnt protect Dad: Al-Issa passed Colorados universal background check with flying colours, despite being previously convicted of third-degree assault. Dad wasnt protected by a county judge who, four days before Al-Issa bought the gun, blocked a Boulder city ban on assault rifles after a suit from the National Rifle Association (NRA).

Both chambers of the Ohio General Assembly are plodding forward on legislation to waive training requirements to carry a concealed weapon.

While current law allows state residents to openly carry a weapon, it only allows those 21-and-up to obtain a concealed carry permit after completing an 8-hour training course and passing a background check.

On March 13, 2020, Louisville police officers burst into the home of Breonna Taylor, a Black 26-year-old emergency room technician. When her boyfriend Kenneth Walker woke up and fired his gun at them, police fired back, killing Taylor. Since that tragedy, something remarkable has happened: 28 states and 20 cities have passed some sort of restrictions on no-knock raids. According to the reform group Campaign Zero, another 14 states and nine cities are currently considering other legislation. Nine states have prohibited no-knocks outright, though some of those bans are more comprehensive than others.

Conservative rocker Ted Nugent recently visited the Winsconsin Capitol to endorse a package of hunting and gun bills. In addition to stating that the right to keep and bear arms in the United States is a God-given right, the musician suggested creating a sandhill crane hunting season.

As many of you might know already, Ted Nugent is a firm supporter of the right to bear arms. The rocker also currently serves on the Board of Directors of the National Rifle Association. He has controversial statements about the Second Amendment as well such as the time he implied that Jews are behind the push for gun control.

You are a 95 year old man. It is Friday evening and you fall asleep in your living room chair. Youre startled awake by a crashing sound as someone kicks in your back door. You grab your gun and see a stranger going through your kitchen drawers. You shout for him to leave. He starts toward you until he sees your firearm. Now the intruder runs back the way he came through your broken back door. You call 911 and report the incident to the police.

I listened to an interview recently with an international correspondent, and he described witnessing people stepping over bodies in the street as they went about their daily activities in war-torn countries. It is deplorable, especially as it affects the psyches of young children. But are we not doing the same thing here? They were quite literally doing the same at the Seventh Street Truck Park in St. Paul, and we are elsewhere in our Twin Cities as both see increasing numbers of gunshot victims.

Marksmanship is a perishable skill. If you dont practice, your accuracy, speed and familiarity will diminish. The solution is simple: practice, practice, practice. While it may be difficult to get excited about doing dry fire drills at home, there is an alternative that is both fun and allows you to practice unique skills.
