Now, gun-control advocates accuse gun manufacturers of purposely producing ads that cater to criminals. Read the complete storyDebunking Myths About the Big Bad Gun Industryin Americas 1st Freedom, an Official Journal of the NRA.

There's a time-honored tradition among gunmakers of mixing and matching existing components within their product lines in order to create new models. This includes stretching and trimming slide lengths for semi-automatic pistols. Long slides increase barrel length and sight radius while shorter barrels can make pistols easier to carry. Usually, the grip frame extends or shrinks along with the slide, but not always.

Legislation proposed in Congress would mandate that each National Forest and BLM district has at least one public recreational shooting range. The Range Access Act as proposed last week by U.S. Rep. Blake Moore, R-Utah, aims to build potentially hundreds of new public ranges nationwide. Moore argues the increase is needed to give the record number of first-time gun owners better access to shooting ranges so they can practice their skills.

On a trip to SIG in New Hampshire last week, we had an occasion to see the new P226 XFIVE up close and personal. Announced earlier this month, the P226 XFIVE was formerly just offered through SIG's German Master Shop for serious competition use and typically ran in the neighborhood of about $5K-- and that was in 2008 dollars! While today's XFIVE remains pricy-- like a minimum advertised price of $2,199 kinda pricy-- it is still way less than the older version and the American-made instant classic has been updated to have better sights and a factory Delta Point Pro/RMR footprint.

Its not unusual for anti-Second Amendment politicians to lambaste this nations oldest-civil rights organization. President Joe Biden (D) routinely likes to say that he took on the NRA and won, despite this being provably false. And, like Bidens oft-repeated statement, its common for these same politicians to outright lie about the NRA and gun owners, which brings us to Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. John Fetterman (D). In his bid for the U.S. Senate seat made available by Sen. Pat Toomeys (R) coming retirement, Fetterman decided he would try to score political points earlier this year by spreading further falsehoods. |

A U.S. judge on Friday dismissed Mexico's $10 billion lawsuit seeking to hold U.S. gun manufacturers responsible for facilitating the trafficking of a deadly flood of weapons across the U.S.-Mexico border to drug cartels. The decision by Chief Judge F. Dennis Saylor in federal court in Boston is a victory for Smith & Wesson Brands Inc, Sturm, Ruger & Co and others accused of undermining Mexico's strict gun laws by designing, marketing and selling military-style assault weapons that cartels could use. |

Approximately half of the elk habitat in the state of New Mexico is located on private lands. The impact from elk can be extremely taxing on landowner resources such as forage, fences, and water. One tool that the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish offers to help incentivize habitat improvements on private lands and to compensate for damages caused by elk is a system that allocates elk hunting tags for properties that meet certain habitat guidelines, so that income can be generated from the loss of resources taken by the wildlife. |

The Washington State Department of Licensing on Friday updated its data on the number of active concealed pistol licenses in the state, reporting a staggering hike of more than 21,000 licenses over the number at the end of August.
This brings the total of active CPLs in the state to 688,440, a remarkable total in a state where voters have adopted two restrictive gun control initiatives since 2014. At the end of August, there were 667,260 active licenses and the Democrat-controlled Legislature had passed a ban on so-called large capacity ammunition magazines which took effect July 1. That ban is already being challenged in federal court. |

If you enjoy big game hunting or shooting at the range, you may fire cartridges with nickel cases or pick up a few off the ground. This often leads shooters to a few questions that need to be answered:
Why is some ammo nickel-plated?
What is the difference between a nickel-plated brass and a brass casing?
Can you reload nickel plated brass casings? |
