Since the first time somebody figured out that they could propel an object out the end of a crudely-fashioned iron tube by igniting a concoction of sulfur, charcoal, and piss, humankind has strived to make firearms more effective, user-friendly, and compact. From the beginning, the type of guns we consider pistols were designed so that a shooter could fire them with one hand. Early pistols were simple black-powder-charged, single-shot contraptions that were likely even more frustrating than their long-barreled counterparts. These days, there are many types of pistols, and theyre better than everbut trying to sort them all out can feel like drinking from a fire hose. Heres a guide to the different pistol types. |

I recently found myself touring the Sierra Bullets factory. The company refers to its employees as Bulletsmiths for a reasonthe care and precision that goes into the creation of its ammunition and components is nothing short of amazing. Now, yes, to be fair, most ammunition companies invest a great deal of time and effort in ensuring that everything produced works as expected; what I saw at Sierra Bullets was definitely next-level stuff.

The Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS) issued an order Monday vacating U.S. District Court Judge Reed OConnors Sept. 14, 2023, decision which blocked enforcement of the Biden administrations ghost gun rule. The Biden administrations ghost gun rule is contained in ATF Final Rule 2021-05F which redefines partially complete pistol frames as firearms. This rule allows ATF to require background checks for certain gun parts kits by claiming said parts could be used to build guns. |

Americas cherished Second Amendment rights have been increasingly tested as anti-freedom states continue to pile on laws restricting the capacities of firearm magazines. This move has been controversial and divisive, with a total of 14 states, alongside the District of Columbia, imposing their own versions of these unconstitutional mag restrictions. While these laws are presented under the guise of public safety, many proponents of gun rights view them as mere cosmetic interventions that do little to prevent the real issues at hand. Furthermore, the USCCA, a renowned authority in the firearms community, suggests that these laws might not be the effective remedy to mass shootings that they are made out to be. |

Knife Rights today filed a Motion for Summary Judgment in its federal lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of portions of the Federal Switchblade Act. A motion for summary judgment asks the court for a judgment on the merits of the case before the trial where there is no dispute of material facts and only a question of law needs to be decided. Knife Rights motion sets out the indisputable facts under the standard laid out last year by the U.S. Supreme Court in New York State Rifle & Pistol Assn v. Bruen. |

In the years since I began seriously pursuing handgun-related endeavors, one of my favorite types of .22 LR revolversthe mid-size frame double-actionhas taken a back seat to other models. Today polymer framed semi-automatics and budget priced single-action revolvers seem to rule the roost. That's a shame because double-action wheel guns in this caliber have so much to offer.
