"Bullet holes clustered on the silhouette of the paper target. For a nervous novice, my aim was fairly decent." ...

"... Makes it that much harder to do what I set out to do: shove aside the raw, partisan emotions and reach the core of the gun debate."

"At any other time thats a tough enough task, as recent events proved here. A Racine military surplus store raffled off an AK-47, raising money to outfit military snipers."

"The anti-gun crowd complained about assault weapons and glorifying violence. The pro-gun crowd locked and loaded for an invisible battle over Second Amendment rights. And I scratched my head over the whole thing." ...

"I figure that we greatly out number those who wish to destroy our rights but it is time for the Sleeping Giant to get up and speak out. So here is my challenge to you:"

"With winter coming up, does your hot beverage get cold while you are out on the shooting range or traveling to your hunting grounds? Have you always wanted a 'translucent tumbler' that says 'Reds Trading Post' on it? More importantly, are you sick and tired of hearing about another firearms dealer closing their doors in your area? Are you fed up with ATFs agenda of a back door assault on your Second Amendment and their compiling an illegal database of gun owners?"

"If any of the above motivates you, then Ryan Horsely, Manager of Reds Trading Post, has a deal for you. ... contact our Senators regarding the ATF's egregious behavior and in turn Ryan will send you a 'translucent tumbler' AKA travel mug for your efforts. ..." ...

"I personally believe that the NRA has done more to protect our 2nd Amendment right to bear arms than any other single organization out there. The NRA has more than 4 Million current members and the polls show that at least 25 Million fellow Americans believe that they are NRA members even though their membership status may not be fully up to date. It is largely thanks to the efforts of the NRA along with other local gun rights organizations in many states that we now have a majority of the states with 'shall issue' concealed carry laws (which previously had 'might issue' or 'shall NOT issue' laws). There is of course still much work to be done but we are making good progress." ...

"'Pull!' Ah, how sweet the sound. Almost as sweet as the fact that it's followed by getting to fire a shotgun. As for nailing a clay pigeon and seeing it explode into a puff of victory dust? It ranks up there with hitting a line drive or driving a golf ball among the most satisfying moments in rec sports."

"Skeet shooting actually is a lot like golf, according to Steve Moskop, who runs SkeetChicago with his wife, Dione White. It's a social game played in a group where everyone takes turns; it's incredibly addictive; and play occurs away from the hustle and bustle. But it's better than golf because you get to shoot stuff." ...

"Asking for a .45-caliber automatic pistol was a tall order that few manufacturers or inventors attempted successfully in the early 20th century. To accomplish this, Browning settled on a design that is so timeless, it has been changed little in nearly 100 years of production. The basic principle of the pistol is recoil operation. ..." ...

"Despite being challenged by newer and lighter weight pistol designs in .45 caliber, such as the Glock 21, the SIGARMS P220 and the Heckler & Koch Mk 23, the original 1911 design shows no signs of decreasing popularity. ..."

Submitter's Note: Obviously we need to ban those 'high capacity assault gas cans'. I mean why would anyone ever need more than a quart of gasoline? And Wisconsin is one of the two states where concealed carry is completely banned.

"Shirley Katz is not afraid to fight for her rights. Last week the schoolteacher, 44, went to court in her home town of Medford, Oregon, to protest her working conditions. Katz is outraged she cannot carry a handgun into class."

"'I know it is my right to carry that gun,' she said."

"The same week Katz was in court, someone else took a gun to school in the US. This time it was a pupil in Cleveland, Ohio. Asa Coon, 14, walked the corridors of his school, a gun in each hand, shooting two teachers and two students. Then he killed himself. Coon's attempted massacre made headlines. "It was a vox pop scene steeped in pathos: Parents of students slain in the Virginia Tech gun massacre journeyed to the Capitol yesterday and begged Congress to finally close the glaring gun control loophole discovered after 33 lives were lost in the campus rampage. It should have been fixed soon after the slaughter in April. After all, most of Congress supports the remedy a strengthened law to block dangerously ill people like the Virginia Tech predator from buying firearms."

"If we are to believe that the peoples Second Amendment rights is limited to those National Guard personnel within the federal Department of Defense, then for consistency's sake we must also believe that the First Amendment only protects those public assemblies that are formed for the sole purpose of petitioning the government for a redress of grievances."
