Can you protect your great grandchildren at night?
Are you armed as you drive your car?

MI: Opinion: Michigan must do more to curb gun violence

As Michiganians, we generally want the same things. We work hard for our families, want our kids to go to good schools -- and want to get there on safe roads. At the end of the day, we want our communities to be safe places where our kids can grow up, regardless of where we live in this state.

Senseless gun violence makes that impossible.

There are a lot of responsible gun owners in Michigan. Like many people in our state, I have my CPL and I support the Second Amendment. But supporting the Second Amendment and implementing sensible, life-saving gun laws are not mutually exclusive. Gun violence claims the lives of 1,163 Michiganians every year. That means that someone is killed with a gun in Michigan every eight hours.

The justice and the states lawyer then discussed extensively a proposed implementation of law that could require any pre-trial immunity decisions to be appealable directly to the Wyoming Supreme Court. Once the issue had been resolved, then those cases could go to trial.

Hawaiʻi Attorney General Clare E. Connors has joined an 18-state coalition defending Vermont in its effort to ban large-capacity magazines. Supporters of the legislation say it is designed to prevent gun violence and protect public safety.

In a friend-of-the-court brief Connors and her counterparts argue that states have the right to enact reasonable firearm restrictions that reduce the number of deaths and injuries caused by gun violence.

During a public hearing in the DFW Metroplex, dozens of citizens waited hours to testify against legislative proposals aimed at preventing mass shootingsincluding controversial red-flag laws.

The hearing was convened by the Texas House Select Committee on Mass Violence Prevention and Community Safety, formed along with a companion Senate committee in the wake of shootings in El Paso and Odessa in August. Gov. Greg Abbott also formed a Texas Safety Commission and issued eight executive orders intended to bolster the public safety coordination that can prevent mass shootings.

MI: Michigan House bills would make CPLs optional, allow gun owners to carry in gun-free zones

Michigan residents wouldnt need a permit to carry a concealed firearm - and could carry them into locations where theyre currently off-limits - under bills currently up for debate in a state House committee.

The main piece of the five-bill package, House Bill 4770, would eliminate current restrictions on carrying concealed weapons and storing them in vehicles, and make a CPL license unnecessary - although gun owners still could opt to get the license.

This is a perfect example of why Constitutional Carry is so important for the state of Oklahoma. Adam was pulled over by an officer for a simple traffic violation and after providing his drivers license was asked if he has any weapons in the vehicle. Adam stated yes and was ordered out of the vehicle. The firearm was removed from the combat marine veteran and unlawfully confiscated. Since he is an Oklahoma resident, he should have been issued a $70 citation according to 1289.13A of the Oklahoma Self-Defense Act. Had he been from any of the other 15 Constitutional Carry States he would not have been in violation of Oklahoma Self-defense Act laws.

The results show 92 percent of Illinoisans support making mental health background checks more stringent. Thats about the same number as a similar survey from last year. Another 74 percent back the idea of banning assault weapons, a big jump from 2018. While there is a partisan split on that question, a majority of both Democrats and Republicans are in favor.

Meanwhile, 88 percent support requiring fingerprints to get a Firearms Owners Identification (FOID) card, and three out of four Illinoisans favor banning high capacity magazines.

Recently, a deranged leftist (pardon the redundancy) got angry with me for talking publicly about my firearms collection. Apparently, he not only opposes my ownership of guns but also does not want me to discuss them. In other words, he is one of those Beto ORourke leftists seeking to eviscerate both the First and Second Amendments. He even decided to write one of my bosses and petition for my termination after I refused to stop tweeting about firearms. So I am going to respond to his demands in the only reasonable way I can: Im going to start writing about firearms more often to remind him that he is dealing with an alpha male, not a Beto male.

Over the years, Ive had the opportunity to test and evaluate a number of Taurus handguns, including revolvers from .38 Special to .44 Magnum, and semi-autos ranging upwards from 9mm to .45 ACP.

They have worked, often superbly and never poorly. From a compact pocket pistol to the companys rendition of a Model 1911, all of these experiences were eye-opening and tended to reinforce the notion that one can still find an affordable handgun that works.

So, when Taurus recently announced the G3 self-loader in 9mm my curiosity was more than piqued. And a Taurus announcement reported, not surprisingly, the pistol has garnered tremendous response from dealers, consumers and the firearms media.

When we talk about the need for the NRA to get involved in cultural engagement in order to establish a pro-Second Amendment culture, some might question the need. After all, Hollywoods bias is well known, its arguably baked into the planning many Second Amendment supporters have. But this will matter a lot even if correction, especially if the Supreme Court case on New York City gun regulations ends up with a favorable ruling.

A carbine that can call in an airstrike. A computer-aided scope on a machine gun that can turn just about anyone into a marksman.Even firearms that measure and record every movement, from the angle of the barrel to the precise moment of each shot fired, which could provide law enforcement with a digital record of police shootings.

If you, as a concealed weapon carrier, are involved in a self-defense deadly-force shooting, the burden of proof is generally on you to show that you legally used your gun, according to the laws of your state and/or jurisdiction and federal laws. Using the latest advanced and high-resolution technology in a weapon-mounted camera can be very helpful to supplement the several usually-inferior quality videos captured by others on their cell phones, etc. Some say cameras worn on the body are not that effective.

More bullets, more fatalities.

That, in a nutshell, is the conclusion of a new Columbia University study which posits that banning large-capacity magazines (LCMs) could substantially lower the death toll in mass shootings.

The Democrat candidates for president are issuing extreme proposals like a bunch of drunks who stayed at the bar too long. Now, the candidates are competing to see who can come up with the wildest schemes as they vie for media attention. Beto ORourke got some press coverage when he called for forced confiscation of mid-range semi-automatic rifles. Desperate for attention, Kamala Harris and Cory Booker flashed some confiscation of their own. None of the Democrat candidates criticized firearms confiscation. Are these extreme proposals appealing to the Democrat base, or is there a larger motivation?

The threat of sweeping restrictions being proposed to restrict target shooting on private property brought locals crowding into the Board of Supervisors normally quiet meeting in Springfield Township, Pa., Sept. 24. Several measures were formally proposed in the meeting, and rumors had suggested even more would be. Most of the proposed items were rejected, but one banning target shooting at night passed.

Cal Huntzinger, a local who attended the Board of Supervisors meeting, told Americas 1st Freedom that word of the possible restrictions got everyones dander up.
