Virginia anti-gunners are scared to death that gun owners in the Commonwealth will turn out at the polls next month to prevent the election of Democrat Terry McAuliffe as governor, so the Virginia Citizens Defense League is declaring, We must all vote, vote early and vote in person!
In an email alert, VCDL is also alleging that so-called dark money is being used to suppress gun owner turnout!

In my home state of Ohio, there was a time when shotguns were a multi-purpose hunting and personal defense tool. We hunted deer, turkey, waterfowl and upland game with our shotgun (oftentimes a single shotgun with multiple interchangeable barrels), and they were the firearm of choice for home defense. Shotguns were the most popular long gun for local law enforcement agencies, and trap, skeet and sporting clay shooting competitions drew huge crowds.

A big spike in gun sales among the Black community in the United States has prompted a similar jump in the number of groups promoting responsible gun ownership. It led to the formation of a Rochester group whose members say they are up to the challenge of meeting that goal while trying to change some misperceptions. |

Further evidence of Joe Biden and Attorney General Merrick Garlands contempt for the Second Amendment has emerged in recent weeks. On September 21, the solicitor general of the U.S. (an office of the Department of Justice that reports to the Attorney General) filed a brief on behalf of the federal government supporting New Yorks may-issue carry licensing regime in the U.S. Supreme Court case New York State Rifle & Pistol Association v. Bruen. That same day, the solicitor general filed for leave to participate in oral arguments. The court granted this leave on October 12. |

Virginians are increasingly exercising their Second Amendment rights. NICS Checks in the commonwealth were up more than 60-percent from 2019 to 2020. From 2019 to 2021 there was a 21-percent increase in the number of resident Right-to-Carry permits. National data on gun buyers in 2020 suggest that half of new gun owners are women and that new owners are more diverse than the general population. Moreover, Gallup polling shows that less than 0.5-percent of Americans consider guns to be the most important problem facing the country. |

In a day and age when Silicon Valley is using harmful misinformation as an excuse to engage in censorship of pro-Second Amendment supporters, some legislation will become much more dangerous, even with the likelihood that the Supreme Court will issue some favorable Second Amendment rulings in the future. One of these bills is something discussed before in the pages of Ammoland. |

Both chambers of the Ohio General Assembly are plodding forward on legislation to waive training requirements to carry a concealed weapon. While current law allows state residents to openly carry a weapon, it only allows those 21-and-up to obtain a concealed carry permit after completing an 8-hour training course and passing a background check. House Bill 227 and Senate Bill 215, which contain some important differences, would waive these permitting requirements, including the training. |

Not only did gun sales climb to unprecedented highs, but 40 percent of all purchasers were first-time gun buyers, estimated to be some 8.4 million people. The number of FBI NICS background checks used for gun sales and transfers as well as for suppressor sales and concealed carry permits was just under 40 million for 2020, the highest number since the agency began keeping records. Firearm imports for 2020 likewise exceeded every other previous year to date. According to Firearms Commerce in the United States (2021), the annual report issued by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF), over 6.8 million guns were imported in 2020, compared to 3.9 million in the previous year. |

It took the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives more than three months just to acknowledge receipt of a simple FOIA request. Quite the work ethic they have there 106 days just to reply to an email!? Thats crazy slow, even for the ATF. Most federal agencies work a lot harder to comply with the Freedom of Information Act, which by the way has been law since 1967. ATF, not so much. |

In our multi-series treatise on treason, it is possible that some readers may view these articles as discrete vignettes or snapshots on the topic of treason. That would be wrong. It is our intention readers see each article as connected to the one before it; each article progressing sequentially to produce a unified whole. And if they are willing to do this to our country you can bet your RKBAs is in the crosshairs.

Theres some debate about which shotgun gauge performs best for upland game, and odds are you have a personal favorite. Perhaps your choice has less to do with passion than practicality: You wanted one gun for shooting clays and upland birds so you went with a 12-gauge, or maybe your grandfather passed his 16-gauge down to you and thats what you carry. Perhaps youve never really given the gauge of your shotgun much thought at all. |

Off-body carry is attractive: you just stick your gun in a bag and tote it along with you. You dont have to worry about the inconvenience and discomfort that can come with dressing around the gun, and its certainly quick to grab that bag and haul it with you when youre running to the store or out to dinner. However, truly off-body methods come with the danger of putting the bag down and having it easily stolen or lost, not to mention the risk of not being able to easily get to the gun because the bag isnt where we expect it to be.

Silver Bear ammo is manufactured by Barnaul Cartridge Plant in Russia, which dates back to Emperor Alexander II. One of the first cartridge plants founded in St. Petersburg in the 19th century, it provided the Russian Imperial Army with its products during World War I until it was evacuated during the Russian Civil War. The company has a small air of mystique about it because theres no bearammo.com to get information.

Harry Caldwell (1876-1970) was born in Ohio and raised in Tennessee. His father was a Methodist minister. Harry and his brothers hunted and trapped from an early age to help feed the family. It was said of Harry he may not have been born with a squirrel rifle in hand but he acquired one not long after. In later years the sons would pay their way through college by trapping and by panning for gold. |

Women, and especially black women, are increasingly buying firearms for self-defense. This reality did not sit well with the hosts of a somehow still-running daytime talk show. Readers are likely aware of, if not familiar with The View. Sherri Shepherd is an actress and former co-host of The View who recently returned for a guest spot. Self-professed big gun control person Joy Behar set up a segment on the rise in gun ownership among black women, queuing up Shepherd to reveal that she is among the large number of black female new gun owners. |
