CBS Chicago published a scary report titled, Killing Is The Solution, Gang Member Tells Walter Jacobson with long-time reporter Walter Jacobson interviewing some Chicago gang members. Their reporter asked some hard questions and received some even more shocking answers.
The reporter asked the bangers, as he described them, what they wanted and they said money.
From the report:
Weve got to eat. We want to. We want money. ...We want all that, another young man said.
But where do they get the money they need? The young man answered bluntly.
Rob, steal and kill. Thats the only way. We didnt grow up in Beverly Hills. We dont get it handed to us, he said. |

I have not been easy on Mitt Romney in the years since he began seeking the presidency.
During the 2008 Republican primary, I viewed Romney much as I did John McCain - a flip-flopper who just couldn't be trusted. In fact, in an op-ed entitled "Will you be Mitt Romney's cheap date?", published at BuckeyeFirearms.org and picked up by World Net Daily (www.wnd.com), I likened Romney to a bar-hopping boyfriend treating pro-gun voters "like some airheaded college girlfriend," ..."expect[ing] that we'll watch as [he] repeatedly grope[s] and fondle[s] waitresses while we're out on a date together, but forgive [him] as soon as [he] say[s] 'I love you baby. Now go get me another beer.'" |

Seems like I have been running a lot of these stories lately here on the blog. This time in South Carolina.
From the news account it looks like the residents got pretty worked up about having an indoor, private (members only) shooting range in their area. Thats fine. I am certainly for locals deciding their own fate about what goes on in their neck of the woods, but it seems that there was a great deal of misinformation that caused a sensationalistic environment for decisions to be made in. |

Gun control in the US is an issue that always seems to pass the good intentions test. Politicians, the news media, and good people seem to think that anyone who proposes another gun control law must be doing it because they care. Even if people dont believe gun control will work as advertised, they grant the good intentions and mostly go along, saying, We HAVE to do something!.
These same people will be the first to cry racism! when they see another law proposed (welfare reform, for example) that they perceive as hurting minorities. But the truth hurts: the very gun control laws they advocate have racist origins, and disproportionately affect minorities... |

Supporters of a Kennesaw man convicted of killing an armed trespasser in 2005 are claiming a small victory after a Georgia Superior Court judge recently issued a ruling that could free the man.
Baldwin County Judge Hulane E. George found that John McNeil received "ineffective" counsel during his trial and suffered prejudice because jurors were not informed that they could acquit him "based on his justified defense of his son," according to a final habeus corpus order signed on Sept. 25. |

The government can prohibit sales of guns for self-defense to American citizens residing outside its borders, a federal judge ruled. U.S. citizen Stephen Dearth lives in Canada and was unable to buy firearms in the U.S. on two occasions. Federal Form 4473 requires purchasers of firearms to provide their state of residence, preventing Dearth from legally completing the document. Dearth and the Second Amendment Foundation, a nonprofit committed to the right to bear arms, sued Attorney General Eric Holder for declaratory and injunctive relief in March 2009. |

"It's the second Casey Anthony case. It is getting an enormous amount of coverage everywhere. Literally, I get calls from [the] BBC and other foreign stations and all the national media here and all the local, said OMara. "In Central Florida, we seemed to have gotten them back to back. The frenzy that was Casey Anthony, the national media that sort of descended upon Florida, realized that Florida has very open discovery, we have open records and we have cameras in the courtroom. That perfect storm of media frenzy that can be built around a criminal case, they learned those lessons with Casey Anthony. |

The letter sent today charges that The Daily Caller/NRA gun giveaway violates numerous California and New York gambling and lottery laws. For example, entrants were required to pay the NRA a not refundable fee of $25.00 in order to enter to win, with no alternative method of entry that would allow consumers to enter the promotion without paying the NRA. It is unlawful under California and New York law to require that consumers spend money in order to enter a giveaway such as this. |

A hard-hitting Univision documentary about Operation Fast and Furious that aired Sunday is creating a media tsunami that will be difficult for the Obama administration to dodge because it uses graphic footage of Mexican crime scenes, and points the finger of blame directly at the gun walking scandal.
Rapido Y Furioso may henceforth translate to a four-letter word south of the border. In one horrible scene of a shooting at a bar, caught on security cameras, gunmen walk through a crowd and deliberately execute with two point blank shots to the head one man lying on the floor. The footage is complete with muzzle flashes. |
