Dozens of Senate Democrats met on the steps of the U.S. Capitol to unveil new gun safety legislation. They spoke out about just how out of step they think Congress is on gun control.

They outlined three main principles. They want to strengthen the background check
system, close background check loopholes and shut down the illegal gun pipeline.

A month ago, the Kentucky Concealed Carry Coalition challenged a prohibition on guns at the KFC Yum! Center, arguing that the ban violates state law.

Lucy McBath, the mother of Jordan Davis, a black teenager killed in Jacksonville in a 2012 dispute over loud music, urged the Senate Criminal Justice Committee to vote down SB 344.

Los Angeles County sheriff's officials say a deputy shot and killed a suspected drunken driver who aimed his car at him.

City News Service reports the shooting occurred late Monday in a residential area of South Los Angeles.

Lt. Victor Lewandowski says deputies were pursuing a DUI suspect driving recklessly who turned into a cul de sac.

GOP presidential front-runner Donald Trump said late Monday that President Obama is working on an executive order to take Americans� guns away.

�You know, the president is thinking about signing an executive order where he wants to take your guns away,� he told listeners during a rally in Anderson, S.C., according to CNN.

People in Coos County, Oregon, are considering an initiative that would block enforcement of new gun laws. The question goes before voters in a special election next month.

The initiative would require the county sheriff to decide whether new state or federal gun laws would violate the Second Amendment. If the sheriff thinks the law does that, then the county would be banned from using any resources to enforce the law.

First we should recognize that whoever came up with the socio-political term �pro-life� was brilliant. Even those of us who support a woman�s right to choose certainly would not want to be considered �anti-life,� or coldly �pro-abortion,� so we wound up with the term �pro-choice,� which does not have half the emotional impact. Score one for those who are still fighting Roe v. Wade.

Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings has taken up arms against illegal guns.

Rawlings said Monday that the decision to take on the issue was triggered by a discussions during a recent pow-wow of top U.S. law enforcement and city officials. The mayor, who has made domestic violence a hallmark issue, said he has officially signed on with Mayors Against Illegal Guns after he decided that he could take a �unifying� approach to firearms.

In 2014, a total of 2,212 people tried to carry handguns onto commercial airplanes in the United States. One of those incidents happened in Fort Wayne.

So far in 2015, though, even more people have tried to board planes with guns, and it's happened five times in Fort Wayne so far this year.

And about 90 percent of the time the guns are loaded.

Michigan legislators are debating measures that would enable certain permitted gunowners to carry concealed weapons in gun free zones, including schools. Supporters of Senate bill 442, one of the measures, say shootings in public spaces like schools would be less likely or could be stopped if perpetrators knew responsible gun owners were allowed to have a weapon there

Dozens of stolen guns are in the hands of criminals following a gun store break-in in Anderson. This week, crooks broke into the Crack Shot gun store and stole 50-60 firearms.

Anderson has three gun stores in town. In the last two months, all three stores have been broken into and had guns stolen.
