Allegan County sheriffs deputies responded to a 11:49 p.m. alarm at that store. A deputy was on scene within three minutes of the call and found forced entry into the building.

A growing number of us go armed in public. We've added millions of new people who have a permit to carry concealed.

What we've ignored is the tens of millions of law abiding citizens who were denied the right to keep and bear arms. Judges routinely ignore laws that infringe our rights.. a lot.

A Superior Court judge in Washingtons Snohomish County has ruled that a safe storage ordinance adopted last year by the City of Edmonds violates the Evergreen States 35-year-old state preemption law, and in the process may have set the stage for a state Supreme Court confrontation.

A Superior Court judge in neighboring King County dismissed a similar challenge to a nearly identical ordinance adopted in the City of Seattle last year. That case is now under appeal to the state Court of Appeals.

A Washington State congresswoman has joined forces with a New York congressman to introduce federal legislation that would mandate so-called safe storage of firearms, a bill that underscores what Northwest Second Amendment activists have been warning about: The Evergreen State is a test tube for gun control legislation because Seattle and nearby Edmonds have adopted such a requirement.

Legislative sessions in Arizona are predictable in a few ways: There will be arguments over education funding, at least one seemingly popular bill will die without a hearing, someone will pick a fight with the cities and towns and it seems the 2020 legislative session will feature, in part, a battle over so-called sanctuary cities. Lawmakers are already proposing bills to effectively prevent municipalities from establishing sanctuary policies or penalizing them for the consequences, all while Tucson prepares for a Nov. 5 vote on whether to formally declare itself a sanctuary city.

I think I was 13 when I started hunting pheasants with my Dad. Dads sportsmans club in Wayne would grow the pheasants and distribute them around the area. The first pheasant I shot was in a cornfield at the north end of Maranacook Lake. I can still see it all in my mind. Our English setter pointed the bird and it took off flying up through the corn. When it appeared above the corn Dad did not even raise his shotgun. He just told me to shoot.

Orange County judges and domestic violence prevention advocates have tightened the process to ensure people accused of domestic abuse give up their guns, which Chief Judge Donald Myers said should better protect victims of intimate violence and improve compliance with state law. Abusers must now prove to the judge that they have turned in their firearms and ammunition upon the entry of an (protective) injunction," Myers said Monday morning at the Orange County Domestic Violence Commission, a group that reconvened after an almost three-year hiatus.

Illegal dumping in low-income neighborhoods, slow recovery from Hurricane Harvey and safer gun storage dominated a Sunday afternoon discussion with mayoral candidates. It's not often that seasoned hunters would listen to a 26-year-old tell them how to shoot better. Heck, most of us kill whitetails with guns older than that. However, Staff Sergeant George Reinas is not just a young sniper for the U.S. Air Force. For the past five years he has been instructing our flyboy snipers on how to shoot better.

The multi-purpose tactical bullet (MPT) is almost always associated with America's Rifle: the AR-15. If you own one of these guns, its probably one of your most fired weapons and for good reason its fun to shoot. Unloading a magazine at empty cans and bottles in the backyard or trying to beat your last score at the shooting range is a spectacular feeling when using one of these guns.

The Keefe Report: Compromise

Compromise. That is the nature of the handguns lawfully carried concealed by millions of Americans every day. Do you sacrifice concealability to carry a larger gun in a major chambering, or do you sacrifice energy and go down to a smaller cartridge? Shot placement is the most crucial factor, and small .380 ACPs, such as the Glock 42 or Ruger LCP for example, deliver great concealability, but no one would argue that .380 is as effective in terms of stopping power as 9 mm Luger or .45 ACP. Another issue with small guns is just their shootability. Small, thin, light polymer-frame .45sor 9 mms for that mattercan be a delight to carry, but border on masochism beyond the first magazine or so in training.

The Colt Model 1911 .45 caliber semiautomatic pistol that John Browning dreamed up more than a century ago remains one of the most beloved sidearms in U.S. military history. Hell, there's a reason why Army Gen. Scott Miller, the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan, still rocks an M1911A1 on his hip despite the fact that the Army no longer issues them to soldiers.

 QUOTES TO REMEMBER
"Let us contemplate our forefathers, and posterity, and resolve to maintain the rights bequeathed to us from the former, for the sake of the latter. The necessity of the times, more than ever, calls for our utmost circumspection, deliberation, fortitude, and perseverance. Let us remember that `if we suffer tamely a lawless attack upon our liberty, we encourage it, and involve others in our doom.' It is a very serious consideration...that millions yet unborn may be the miserable sharers of the event." --Samuel Adams, speech in Boston, 1771
