Just sitting here working with the TV tuned to one of those reality Police shows and happened to look at it when a LEO was attacked by a man with a gun who was shooting at him. The bad guy did not hit the LEO but the LEO shot the BG 4 times as the BG was running away. Despite being shot 4 times the BG was able to shoot at the LEO 3 more times before falling to the ground and even then, he still maintained possession of the gun and would have still been shooting if the LEO did not take cover behind his car and out of sight of the BG who was laying in a ditch.
This is a reminder that handguns are poor man stoppers and we all must be prepared to keep shooting until the bad guy ceases his bad behavior. .... |

About 100 people attended last weeks Washtenaw County Board of Commissioners meeting, and the line for public comment stretched out into the hallway from the board room.
The vast majority were there to talk about the countys resolution to urge the state of Michigan to repeal Public Act 309, Michigans version of the Stand Your Ground law. Toward the end of a meeting that spanned six hours, board members approved the resolution.

As NRA members, one of our key roles in defending liberty is to educate people who have little understanding of the real meaning of the Second Amendment. And often our responsibility is to dissect the biggest lies of the gun-ban crowdamong them, the notion that individuals dont need guns to protect themselves because thats the job of the police.
a government and its agents are under no general duty to provide public services, such as police protection, to any particular individual citizen. |

No charges will be filed against a man who shot and killed two men one of whom was from Gainesville who law enforcement officials said barged into the shooter's apartment two weeks ago after a verbal and physical altercation between them, according to a State Attorney's Office official.
...
Ridgway said the reason for not pursuing any charges against the 28-year-old Silver Springs man was because, according the facts of the case, the shooting was justified under the state's self-defense law. |

Unfortunately, with every passing week, we are hearing more and more horror stories in which homeowners are injured or killed simply because they mistook a SWAT team raid by police for a home invasion by criminals. Never mind that the unsuspecting homeowner, woken from sleep by the sounds of a violent entry, has no way of distinguishing between a home invasion by a criminal as opposed to a government agent. Too often, the destruction of life and property wrought by the police is no less horrifying than that carried out by criminal invaders. |

Fifty senators are standing together to protect the right to keep and bear arms as guaranteed by the Second Amendment.
In a letter addressed to President Barack Obama, the senators enumerated six reasons the president should refuse to present the United Nations Arms Trade Treaty (ATT) to the Senate for ratification. Among the objections raised by the senatorial signatories is the ambiguity of the treaty, as well as the grant to foreign sources of authority the power to impose judgment or control on the U.S. |

At a recent Missouri gun show a Kansas company made a marketing push for the Patriot Pillow, which is a cushion with a hidden compartment large enough to hold a handgun.
Initially called the Privacy Pillow, the concealed pouch was created to hold bedside items like TV remotes or glasses and be comfortable enough to sleep on. But representative Nathan Powers told ABC affiliate KQTV the concept can also provide a secret repository for self-defense weapons, and while someone could sleep on the pillow, they don't have to. |

County authorities first responded to a report of a heated argument taking place at 15533 Steamboat Drive, near the Diamond Bar X Ranch at 12:30 p.m. When deputies arrived at 1:00 p.m., Newman was dead.
According to the Sheriff, who has not yet released the name of the shooter, there is no evidence that the shooting was a homicide, but was instead self defense. The investigation into the tragedy is continuing, according to Dutton. |

The gun itself comes in some basic variations. The eight-shot model is 39 inches long. The barrel comes in 18.5 inch and 20 inch variations, and is available with a stand-off breaching break (on the 18.5 inch version). Different length stocks allow you to choose a comfortable length of pull. On the short end, at just 13 inches, the gun feels very small. Other options, like the adjustable stock, allow for anywhere from 10 to 14.5 inch lengths of pull. |

In remarks moments after yesterdays opening of the 82nd annual gathering of Interpols governing body in Cartagena, Colombia, Noble made this observation:
Ask yourself: If that was Denver, Col., if that was Texas, would those guys have been able to spend hours, days, shooting people randomly? What Im saying is it makes police around the world question their views on gun control. It makes citizens question their views on gun control. You have to ask yourself, Is an armed citizenry more necessary now than it was in the past with an evolving threat of terrorism? This is something that has to be discussed. |

Its a fairly straightforward civil liability case that a parent can be held liable for failing to adequately secure a gun away from a young person, and there have been a number of civil suits over the years, and a number of reported cases around the country of holding gun owners to the highest degree of care in securing their weapons, says Jonathan Lowy, director of the Legal Action Project at the Brady Center to Prevent Gun Violence. |

This is SAF's case concerning right-to-carry in the District of Columbia, the last remaining jurisdiction in the nation where citizens cannot carry a firearm in any manner outside their home for personal protection.
"We realize this is a difficult step to take," said SAF Executive Vice President Alan Gottlieb, "but this case has been languishing for 1,475 days, and counting since it was ready for decision. In our case in Moore v. Madigan, challenging the carry ban in Illinois, the trial court took 172 days to rule, and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals took 202 days to issue its ruling on the appeal." |

Were told that its offensive to even discuss gun control after a fatal shooting. People scream it. Youre accused of being an exploiter. A liberal. Youre playing politics while victims families grieve. All gun control does is keep guns from law abiding citizens while criminals remain armed or so were told.
Its interesting. Some who vow absolute allegiance to the Second Amendment dont seem to appreciate the First Amendment when its used to ask questions in the wake of killings targeting little kids or killings carried out by little kids. |

The suit was filed on behalf of Carlos Nino de Rivera Lajous, a Mexican man who has lived legally in Lincoln since 1990. De Rivera Lajous is also a member of the Second Amendment Foundation and the Nebraska Firearms Owners Association. |

The campaign office in a drab strip mall of this metro-area suburb has the urgent feel of an election just days away.
But Election Day for this group is not in November. It's a Dec. 3 deadline to submit about 18,900 valid signatures to the secretary of state's office to force a recall vote on Democratic Sen. Evie Hudak.
The effort, based in anger at Colorado's new Democratic passed gun-control laws, amounts to another end-run at tilting control of the state Senate to Republicans. |
